But Ector and other African-Americans who share his views on firearms see gun rights as a civil rights issue and tighter regulations as a way to keep power out of the hands of minorities. "Gun control has racist roots and when you deny people the opportunity to own a gun and to protect themselves, that is the epitome of racism," he told Al Jazeera.

Finally, they get to defend themselves from the bullet-spraying gang-banging thugs that are terrorizing their neighborhoods and killing their children.
I fully support their God-given Constitutional right to defend themselves and protect their families from the terrorist gang-banging dope pushing gangs.
Thank goodness for the NRA, formed to give weapons to freed slaves so they could defend themselves from the democrats who wanted them back in chains.
You think many people know that? The media will not allow that kind of talk at all.
I sympathize with the sentiment, but it is nonsense.
If the gun control policy is conceived and implemented without reference to ethnicity, it's not racist.
It may be stupid and lots of other unflattering adjectives, but not racist.
Star Parker made a really good short video about these facts awhile ago, worth watching.
Everything seems to remind some of them of segregation. No use trying to appease them.
Al Jazeera just surprised me.
-—so much hogwash, which brings discredit to the firearms community-—
What’s hog wash?
Nothing in this Wiki mentions it.
The NRA has ever mentioned anything about this. I’d like to see the documentation.
Black Man with a Gun is a great podcast. In his book and podcasts he lays out the racist past of gun control.
From Star Parker
Oh, ye. wikipedia?
I have never come across any NRA writings that indicate this. I would like the NRA to acknowledge this if it is true. It would be nice if it was true. You just can’t name it and claim it or blab it and grab it just because you want it to be true.
I did not.
I trust these men and women to be telling the truth.
Chicago has very stringent gun control laws and an extremely high volent crime rate. Detroit has lax gun control laws by comparison. People there can fairly easily purchase guns and get ccw permits. Detroit has a high number of justifiable shootings where its residents were able to defend themselves with a gun, but nonetheless, Detroit also has a very high violent crime rate.
It is not the level or lack of gun control laws that impact crime statistics, it is entirely driven by the number of available criminals a locale has.
Show me the proof. Let the NRA bring that unknown piece of history to the public. If it is true why hasn’t the NRA ever done so?
I am not going to be naive and just accept what they believe. Show me the Monet!
“Gun Control is Racism”.
This simple and accurate bumper sticker idea needs to be seen all over the US, until it becomes a “common axiom”.
Ideally, when enough people see this idea, when somebody like Bloomberg stands up to preach gun control, the audience should, at least in the back of their minds, associate him with racism.
That is the powerful tool that if the messenger is thought of as offensive, his message is ignored.
On a similar note, this is why Planned Parenthood is so desperate to conceal the racism of Margaret Sanger and her ilk. They know that if abortion becomes too associated with racism, eventually they will lose a lot of black women, their target customers. That is, they want to *be* racist, but not be thought of as racist.
“Gun Control is Racism”.
So, does this mean they are against the gun-grabbing from the law-abiding citizens, or are they upset about the laws that try to remove them from the criminals? I always get so confused when they talk about Blacks and common-sense/Constitutionalism.
Bullshit. Plenty of evidence exists that gun control was enacted to prevent Blacks from having firearms.
I do not deny the racist roots of gun control, only that present policies of gun control are racist in intent or effect.
To make my point clear, I should have quoted only the second part of his statement, “when you deny people the opportunity to own a gun and to protect themselves, that is the epitome of racism”
My apologies for the oversight.
How about this you contact Star Parker and the rest, demand they prove to you that they are either right or wrong.
I trust them to be telling the truth, the video is over an hour and they document what they are saying.
Or do your own research and prove they are either lying or uninformed.
I’ve done some cursory checking already and can’t find anything. I’ll do more checking later when I have the time.
They know how to draw you in.
IGNORE.I will not go there!

In Democrat-run slum neighborhoods, cops are little more than a “body-cleanup and confession-extraction service” as one bitter resident once put it.
The only thing between you and the oxygen-wasting, illegitimate brat of a welfare queen with a knife is whatever YOU are armed with.
Civilian-grade tasers and pepper spray (which cops call ‘ticklers’ and ‘pizza seasoning’ respectively, 3 guesses why) will not save your wallet or your purity or your life. A loaded Treyvon-O-Matic will - IF you have the guts to use it when crunch time comes.
Self-defense is a very serious business and you had better treat it like such.
“Gun Control is Racism”
it is racism, but not for the reason stated in the article. It’s racism because blacks and progressives can’t stand to see whites protect themselves today from urban thug culture.
