September 1, 2013 -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Faced with a potentially serious primary challenger, Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander was not about to sit back and wait.

The former two-term governor locked down endorsements, banked more than $3 million and linked arms with popular Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and former GOP presidential contender Mike Huckabee. When conservative state Rep. Joe Carr announced he would challenge Alexander, the senator's team was ready.

They fight harder against Conservative challengers than they do against the Rats.

If he is such a despised RINO, then none of that stuff matters.

Tenn. Conservatives need to do their job or stop complaining about him. You have no excuses.

The job of a politician is to get reelected.

It’s September. It’s great to see people gearing up early to take out these charlatans instead of having them stroll back into office without a fight.

They fight harder against Conservative challengers than they do against the Rats.

Conservative challengers could tear them away from the D.C. trough. Democrats probably can't, not in those states.

I disagree. If you examine the career paths of "former" sens and reps, you'll see a huge percentage go into lobbying or hedge funds. The contacts they have developed continue to serve them well.

The Rocky Top crowd will see to it that Lamar gets re-elected, but we (Tea Party) should put up one heck of a fight.

I was surprised by rhis article because I just couldn’t believe Rand Paul would endorse this putz, so I am vastly relieved that you, being from TN, say not so. Can you elaborate a little? Why are they saying this if it isn’t true? Is alexander’s campaign claiming this, and if they are, where is Paul’s denial?

My off the top of head guess is that RP is playing the angles. Waiting to see if the Dump Lamar! winds intensify.

When have the Democrats ever worked with Republicans?

Compromise and bipartisanship simply means the Republican must cave and submit to the Democrats' demands. Why Alexander doesn't understand this, I don't know, but he is accepting the Left's premise.

He doesn't understand that "working together" is why people are pissed at Washington. Time for him to go, along with that disappointment Corker.

You might want to consider a different nickname for the entrenched power. The do not get to own Rocky Top. (Except they can have the WOOOOO!!)
