At the Last Minute, Obama Alone Made Call to Seek Congressional Approval
WSJ ^ | 9/1/2013 | ADAM ENTOUS and CAROL E. LEE

After a 45-minute walk Friday night, President Barack Obama made a fateful decision that none of his top national security advisers saw coming: To seek congressional authorization before taking military action in Syria.

The stunning about-face after a week of U.S. saber rattling risked not only igniting a protracted congressional fight, which could end with a vote against strikes, but a backlash from allies in the Middle East who had warned the White House that inaction would embolden not only Syrian President Bashar al-Assad but his closest allies, Iran and Hezbollah.

Aides said the decision was made by Mr. Obama and Mr. Obama alone.

"Mr. Obama told aides the decision reflected his growing frustration with lawmakers who appeared to want to have it both ways—criticizing the president for not seeking congressional authorization, and then criticizing the decisions he makes."

Welcome to the big leagues, Mr. president. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

OK, Obama, here’s the deal—agree to repeal Obamacare, give up on amnesty, and we’ll give you Syria’s head on a platter.

“RFS Moskva”

The MOSKVA is designed for just one thing, KILLING CARRIERS...

It is basically a fire and forget weapon, designed to try and overwhelm the defenses of a U.S. Carrier in a one-time strike. She was recently upgraded and modernized, and is considered the most effective unit in the Russian navy, even more so than the Kuznetzov.

“lawmakers should have to go on the record one way or the other.
In other words, he wants to get them on the record, so they can’t do something sleezy, scummy, and underhanded... like claiming they voted against it before they voted for it.”

You’ll note how fast the rhetoric last week changed from:

“Obama MUST act on his own because of the Obstructionist Republican Congress!”

To:
“Obama must act without U.N. approval because of those Obstructionist Russians!”????

Now it will be:
“Obama COULDN’T ACT because of those Obstructionist Republicans in Congress, who would rather see children die horribly, than give the President a win!!!”

And O’s willing sycophant propagandists in the media will gladly parrot that line, over and over.

(And I’ve already heard it.)

Well you have to look at what his administration said in March 2011 when sec of state Clinton stated that Assad was a reformer. Is she ready to be the President in 2016? I think not.

Kerry is also quoted in the article.

Obama has never made a decision since he’s been in the white house.

“BS, Obama’s aides figured out it wasn’t going as planned so they came up with a scam for him to take it up with congress while spinning it to make his failure look good. “

of course that’s the explanation. the only other one would be that Obama took that walk thinking “what’s best for America and the world, regardless of politics or my reputation “.
lol, I can’t even type those words without laughing.

Somebody is really intent on trying to paint an image of Obama as a decision maker. The only decisions he has not worried about being “alone” with deal with breaking the Constitution, not maintaining it. He;s been told that some of his ad-libs were so stupid that he has blown the whole deal and he better get out there and start trying to divert blame.

I’ve got an idea. Let the UN deal with it as they dealt with Saddam. Hit ‘em with a UN resolution.

Saddam got 17 of those before we settled his hash.

Or let Turkey handle it, they’re right next door and hot for a new caliphate. They also don’t give a * what the world thinks of them.

Obama, and he alone made the “fateful decision” that stunned all who witnessed it, and he did it all while appearing to be an ordinary mortal back from a brisk 45-minute walk.

How utterly Trumanesque.

Lovely kneepads there, WSJ online!

MOSCOW — Russia is sending a reconnaissance ship to the eastern Mediterranean, Interfax news agency reported on Monday, as the United States prepares for a possible military strike in Syria.

The reconnaissance ship Priazovye left Russia’s naval base in the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Sevastopol late on Sunday on a mission “to gather current information in the area of the escalating conflict,” the report quoted an unidentified military source as saying.

I wonder what would happen if the Congresspeople just voted “PRESENT” like Obama did so many times in his career?

A real message to Obozo, perhaps?
