We had tropical Storms all day, so Lynn-Dah and I just stayed home.
My balcony got flooded. Eyew...wet rugs.

They were BAD. And of course, Lynn-Dah barks hysterically whenever the thunder happens!

I was in VT-31 in 1970 after 6 months of “AE-A” School. Washed a lot of “birds”, fueled them, being a plane captain was the only part that was fun. Then went to another rate.

I hope so. I know how hard it is to sleep with a doggie that is afraid of thunder. I had one. He would shake so hard that it was impossible to sleep....and whimper the whole time! Poor little guy!

Awwww....
I think they hear it a lot worse than we do, and probably experience the barometric pressure differently as well.

We actually found him during a bad thunderstorm and named him Stormy. Should have been a clue. He was a very sweet and smart little black poodle. :)

Hopefully all the flooding stayed outside.

Good evening, ML!
*HUGS*
I hope your weather has moderated - we were in August weather today - 90 degrees and full Sun. I still got some things done in the Garden, with the help of my assistants. Much remains to do - I've lost several roses of long standing - sad to see them go, but they rendered many years of good service. We've lived in Castle MacNessa for a quarter-century now and it's time to replace some of the hardscape and some of the plants.
Next year will be a rebirth for the Garden - I'm looking forward to it with great anticipation!

Well, it stayed out on the balcony, but the balcony is actually part of my living space. A tiny 1/2” threshold separates it from the living room.
It stopped just short of that.

Thunder and Lightening are the ONLY things that frighten Lynn-Dah.
Other than that she is a very calm and mellow little gal.

I just came in from walking Lynn-Dah, and the weather was quite lovely and refreshed after torrential rains all afternoon.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.
Sad about the roses...But knowing you, we shall be seeing some new ones next summer!

Yes - maybe this time I'll get it right! I hope that by then I can get myself back into physical shape to handle the job. I do not enjoy sitting in a chair directing others what to do in my own garden! I like to have my hands in the dirt - and it's the only place outside of Church that I will allow my knees to touch the ground.

It amazing how some varieties endure through all manner of weather, season after season, and some others succumb. I started out over twenty years ago with Hybrid Tea Roses - all very highly regarded varieties. I stopped using fungicides in 1999 after my son David was diagnosed with cancer at age five, and all the Hybrid Teas died.
I followed up with Old Garden Roses and with modern David Austin Roses - I still have some of them - twenty or more years old.
I will never buy another Hybrid Tea as long as I live - give me the old roses - they stand up through all conditions!
