Wind turbine destroyed by wind (40 mph)
The Telegraph ^ | 9/4/2013

Posted on 09/04/2013 5:45:09 AM PDT by markomalley

Two blades were ripped from the 18m high turbine in the Scottish Highlands and thrown up to 60 yards away after it was hit by 40mph gales. A third was left badly buckled.

The incident has led to calls for all wind turbines to be removed from school playgrounds in the Highlands as the council’s safety trigger for turbines to be shut down currently stands at 80mph winds – 6mph above hurricane force.

No one was hurt when the turbine at Dunhobby, on Scrabster Hill, near Thurso, in the Highlands was destroyed, but there are fears turbines in playgrounds could put children at risk.

"Surely now Highland Council will take notice and remove wind turbines from school playgrounds. This is not an anti-wind farm issue but a safety one,” said Stuart Young, chairman of Caithness Wind Information Forum (CWIF).

He said turbines are currently in playgrounds at Castletown, Bower and Crossroads, where children are only metres away and called for the council to take action after the incident on Friday evening.

Not only do LIB eco-asshats want to chop birds into mincemeat...now they are going after the children they failed to abort. Death...they crave death. Ghouls, I’d say.

I really wonder if it was the wind that did it?? They have several of these near Laramie Wyo and 40mph is barely considered wind there...

After it was destroyed by that high wind the blades became liberated from the structure and decapitated fifty humans.

Those blades are under a lot of stress. If you make them strong, they tend to be heavier and less efficient. If you make them light weight, they’re more efficient but will tend to be weaker. Of course, you can use high tech materials like carbon fiber, but manufacturing something that large from CF is tricky. Bird strikes on the blades can cause damage that might not be noticed for a while. Still, the wind turbine should be able to turn away from the wind and feather itself if the wind speed is too high.

In one of the most hilarious cases of being tripped up by dubious scientific hype, British yachtsman Adrian Flanagan attempted to be the first to sail across the arctic north of Russia. He based his hope on the fact that he believed in the Global Warming propaganda that the arctic is rapidly losing its ice thus making his trip possible. One little problem. Cold cruel reality has crushed the Global Warming hype and now Flanagan’s boat is trapped by ice in the arctic. To add to the irony, Flanagan who seems to be destined to go down in history as Wrong Way Flanagan, is now pleading with Russian authorities to provide him with the services of a nuclear powered icebreaker to get him out of his embarrassing situation.

I always make sure that my kids, all of whom weigh less than 60 pounds, are outside playing in 40-80 MPH winds. They just
love to fly.

15,000 years in the future, the global warming demonstrators will be thawing out of the receding ice sheets and the then population will look upon their carcasses as ‘hearty souls making their way South for survival when an accident befell them.’

I recently watched a documentary on Netflix called “Windfall” about a small county in NY state (about 4 counties away from NYC). Anyway a bunch of NYC libs had been moving there for years and then the wind energy companies started showing up in these rural counties to install turbines.

At first the libs all said the same thing that it was good for the environment, global warming, less dependence on fossil fuels, and then they started doing their homework about what a scam it actually is, how they are not good for the environment, etc.

In the end they stopped them not because of NIMBY syndrome but because of the truth that they really are not and do not do what everyone thinks they do.

In the UK, we’d call him ‘Fannyigan’, as fanny means, erm, a lady’s ‘front bottom’ here and is used as an insult (fanny=complete tool).

You might enjoy this too:

“The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year. More than 20 yachts that had planned to sail it have been left ice-bound and a cruise ship attempting the route was forced to turn back.”
