Actually this probably fits into the overall culture of militant secularism that was initiated under Pierre Trudeau.

When he first came on the scene in Quebec he went after the Catholic Church and Catholic schools with a vengeance.

The headline just as easily could have said “Quebec to ban Muslim symbols of the hijab and burqa” (which would have been an accurate statement) and FR would celebrate.

These are the same people who make it law that all signs give preferential positioning to French and at least equal space for French in all product labeling. The rest of Canada, 99% English and/or some sort of Asian dialect speaking, is forced to go along with this idiocy.
