Obama: 'I Didn't Set a Red Line' on Syria

Obama: 'I Didn't Set a Red Line' on Syria Daniel Halper September 4, 2013 9:31 AM

President Obama said in Sweden today that he personally "didn't set a red line" on Syria:

"First of all, I didn't set a red line," said Obama. "The world set a red line. The world set a red line when governments representing 98 percent of the world's population said the use of chemical weapons are [inaudble] and passed a treaty forbidding their use, even when countries are engaged in war. Congress set a red line when it ratified that treaty. Congress set a red line when it indicated that in a piece of legislation entitled the Syria Accountability Act that some of the horrendous things happening on the ground there need to be answered for. So, when I said in a press conference that my calculus about what's happening in Syria would be altered by the use of chemical weapons, which the overwhelming consensus of humanity says is wrong, that wasn't something I just kind of made up. I didn't pluck it out of thin air. There's a reason for it."

And they'll still blame Bush.

Credibility of U.S., Congress and intelligence community is on the line — not his credibility personally
*******

Idiots in congress are letting him cast them as scapegoats.

If his administration knew so much, as Kerry claims, then why didn’t we act sooner to prevent the use of chemical weapons?

I thought I would be happy when Obama self destructed, but this is embarrassing. I'm nervous that we live in this world and are leaderless,...even a bad leader. Politics aside, I'm literally worried about America. This could get really ugly, really quick.

Double check your bug out bags. If you don't have a leader, anarchy ensues.

“Obama: I didn’t set a red line....”

This must be their new talking point since the weekend. Nancy Pelousi used the same line yesterday and I was shocked at 1st, then realized that must be their new DNC talking point.

“My credibility is not on the line. The international community's credibility is on the line and America and Congress's credibility is on the line...

Direct quote. Obama is a delusional megalomaniac.

Absurd as that statement is, he is obviously using better speechwriters, adept at getting his foot unstuck from his mouth, in what they think of as “timely fashion”.

There is something seriously wrong with Obama. He’s going to have a Captain Queeg like breakdown (a la Humphrey Bogart in the Caine Mutiny) one of these days.

This could kill support for his Syria excursion.
*******

I hope you’re right but the Senate is just as loony as he is. Rand Paul seems to be the only one who is concerned about unintended consequences from Obama’s adventure.

The world set the red line.

He's right about that part but the 'World' is not willing to enforce its own "red line". Where he erred is making a speech that made it his red line. Then he doubled down committing the USA to be the World's cop again. This is going to hurt him big time when people figure it out.

At this point, I don’t care how he tries to weasel out of it. Hopefully this means that there won’t ultimately be an attack on Syria.
