RI Gov. Lincoln Chafee Won't Run for 2nd Term
ABC ^ | September 4, 2013 | MICHELLE R. SMITH

Posted on 09/04/2013 12:14:48 PM PDT by South40

Gov. Lincoln Chafee said Wednesday he is not running for a second term, bowing out of what was expected to be a fierce primary in his new Democratic Party.

The governor, who became a Democrat in May, has struggled with poor approval ratings and is a reluctant fundraiser. He said he would not run next year because he wants to govern and thinks campaigning is "hugely time-consuming."

Chafee said it would be hard to excel at both jobs — being governor and running for governor — because "the challenges are so great here in Rhode Island."

The arrogance displayed in that comment is astounding. This is good news for the people of Rhode Island who were stupid enough to elect this loser in the first place.

Great news. One less incompetent in Congress.

I guess the switch did not live up to what he thought it would be...once his 10 minutes of fame were used up, the dems have no use for him.

Chafee not bothering to run for a 2nd term, obviously saw the writing on the wall.

"The governor, who became a Democrat in May, has struggled with poor approval ratings ..."

Why should the people of RI settle for liberal Democrat Lite when they can vote for the real hard core Democrat Commie 100 proof.

(Everyone remember when this guy was a "Republican" in Senate? The supposedly "conservative" Republican Party has been thoroughly infiltrated and subverted by the Leftist Democrats. I've said it for years.)

He wasn’t liberal Democrat lite, he was hardcore Stalinist left. In the three-way race for Governor in 2010, the Democrat nominee was well to his right.

It’s probably bad news because there is less chance of electing a Republican without Chafee taking votes from the democrat.

Chafee had already switched to the RATs because he realized he had no chance of winning again as an "Independent"

The best case scenario would have been this tool wasting all his campaign $$$ to win the RAT party nomination, then limping into the general election against popular Cranston Mayor Allen Fung.

The RATs will probably run the RI State Treasurer now. But at least The Missing Linc will be gone from politics again. Hopefully permanently this time.

Guess the RATs didn’t like you much, either, Linc!

I live in RI and find this very suspicious. His last move was to join the Democratic Party a few months ago. I suspect that he’s setting up his next move. Possibly a Senate run again or some long term “reward” from the Obama administration.
His last Senate race against Steven Laffee is proof positive that the Republicans would rather loose elections than have conservatives win. It’s a very interesting story with huge effects as it tipped the balance of the Senate to the democrats and is causative of why we got Obamacare jammed down our throats.

Arlen Specter got the same treatment. The rats figure, "How could we trust anybody who would deliberately jump from the party of taxpaying, traditional American families into our corrupt bucket of moochers and scum?"
