Report: Assad moves weapons underground

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has begun to move his arsenal of advanced weapons underground in preparation for a possible strike on the country by the United States, Israel’s Channel 1o reported on Wednesday.

Since learning of U.S. President Obama’s desire to attack Syria, Assad ‘s forces have begun to move the weapons, including possibly chemical warheads, into underground bunkers. The process was accelerated when Damascus realized that the U.S. strike would not be a surprise and in fact would be delayed by a Congressional vote, Channel 10 said.

The underground facilities are similar to those built by Iran near the city of Qom in order to protect its nuclear facilities against attacks. This similarity is not coincidental. Most of the underground facilities in Syria were built by Iran and North Korea.

Cruise missiles won’t cut it with those targets. Powerful bunker busters will be required to take out those targets.

Although Putin and much of the rest of the world may see us as incompetent/weak through Obambi's foreign policy, we still have our Tridents out there along with our Los Angeles class attack subs that support them.

Putin does not want nuclear war. He is not a madman like the Islamists. Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) still exists between us and Russia an even China. All nations could kill this planet with what is left of both nuclear arsenals no matter how much they have been reduced. There are still enough nuclear weapons to go nuclear winter. However, that's not to say conventional warfare could not come to be over this crappy shit hole called Syria. Bombs, air fights, and possibly boots on ground could escalate into WWIII via conventional weapons.

This is what our so-called leaders are thinking about doing. Attack Assad without further proof he initiated chemical attacks. Even if so, Syria attacks Israel. The Saudis support such an attack and the whole region goes up in flames. It's been festering for decades.

Once the Syrians attack Israel, all bets are off. If Israel wants to exist, they WILL use their nukes against ANY enemy. I doubt Russia, China, Iran, the Norks, or any others will interfere and not attack the US. They will yell to high heaven to the UN and that will be that. Israel will kill all and I hope they do.

Mark my words. Israel is done with being the bitch of modern civilization. And I simply don't blame them. Hope they take out the gutter Palis first and then on to Syria and then Iran.

I say kill them all if Israel is attacked. No tit for tat, just plain annihilation once and for all. Show the Muslim Brotherhood and their affiliated al-Queda the true meaning of power and send them back to the 6th century they so long for.

Kill them all. Of course easy for me to say not living in Israel, but those people have been ready to die ever since Arafat's second intifada. They try to live their lives in a normal situation, but know the missles and now the chem-weapons can hit them anytime. What an awful life they have to live. If we had the same situation on our border, Obama or not, we would kill them.

God bless Israel if things go bad. And I care little about collateral damage. Did the Allies worry about that when bombing Dresdan and hit Hiroshimo and Nagasaki? No, it was they die or our troops die. They started it as now Muslim countries do, so if they go down, I'm all for the better. Sorry about the innocents, but better theirs than ours.

Hope this post doesn't get deleted like my last one did.

"“Don’t worry, the Japanese are debating internally whether to attack Pearl Harbor, so we have plenty of time to move our ships out to sea and prepare our air defenses”."

As if, we now watch Hezbollah and al-Queada and many other Islamist rebel factions move into hiding since our stupid CIC has telegraphed our intentions. I don't want us involved, but if we are to be, just hit them according to the War Powers Act, which I disagree with.

This is the biggest clusterfrig I've seen since Clinton hit Kosovo. Put me in charge for 2 days and I will show these 6th century barbarians what power really is. No warning; no Congressional debate; no UN whining; just the War Powers Act and anniliate them all immediately. And no, I don't care about collateral damage. War is war.

I would do what Egypt did with a military coup. Kill all the radicals and become a civilized nation once again.

U.S. foreign policy is an incomprehensible, illogical, ineffective, amateur, clown show joke. The world is both cringing and laughing at us. And yes, Mr. President, you Did build that.

When I grew up in the 50s and 60s in SoCal, we had Nike Missile installations, and they were underground to begin with.

One was near the ridge, of the Puente Hills between LaHabra Heights and Brea.

yep. I grew up in Brea. My backyard overlooked the Brea Mountains. I will always remember the two giant white balls on the hilltop. From what I was told they were the Nike base radar units.

The Syrians that fear al Qaeda are probably offering themselves as human shields because if the insurgents win power, there will be no Syria left anyway. Their army is the only thing holding back radical jihadis from sweeping into the cities and going Pol Pot on everyone. It’s so sad that today America is supporting radical terrorists bent on rooting out Christians. And anyone who claims otherwise is lying. One third of Qusayr’s population before the civil war was Christian. When the insurgents seized it, all Christians were forced to leave - every single one. It’s even in the MSM. After the army reclaimed it, thousands of Christians returned. What happens to them when MB/Obama gets his way?

The explanation of why Obama won’t find chemical weapons is starting already.

Good point. Obama can’t control reactions to his actions. He may just want a limited operation to save face but get sucked into a major escalation. He is poking bees and hasnt a clue.

What a hoot if Assad moved them to Iraq, home of their birthplace.

With a range of only 290 KM, US ships can sit well outside that range and launch Tomahawks with a range of 2500 KM.

Getting them underground may be easy but getting them back out again may not be so easy.

Well .. I had not even thought of that one. Probably no need to move them all if they are buried deep. They could move some to iraq just in case

Yes. Even the people I support (the US as a nation) and Israel - I wonder about on issues like this. Why should our people be in harm’s way for this supposed atrocity?

Everyone is working in their own interests. They don’t always align with ours. Why should more Americans die in the Mid East?

By all means, telegraph your intentions weeks earlier. What the hell has happened to our military? Oh right, Bambi has them under control as he plays "community organizer" and supports "homos' in the military.

We can debate all day long whether he is a true Muslim supporter or just a sympathizer, but his simplistic outlook on how to handle the Syrian situation is amateur at best.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. The Present and the congress wimps are acting like children. I know, I had two. One would say he did it, the other would say she did it. Our solution was to sit them both down and tell them to stop pointing fingers and work things out before their Mother and I brought the hammer down. They resolved things quickly rather than get our wrath.

Can you see the similarities? Fedgov are all privileged children. Gimme; I want; I need; I must leave a legacy; I know better than you; etc.

I hate ALL politicians. Who in their right mind nowadays would want to be a city councilman all the way up to the presidency? Controlling children who wants the power? The same bullies on the playground.

It's time to tell them to stop and leave us alone. I got my ass kicked on the playground once, but since I didn't back down and got in a couple licks, he then left me alone and looked for softer targets. It's time we go after the "soft" targets.

Read what you will into the above NSA. Just remember, you have a job because of some old farts back in 1787. You took an oath to support their principles, if you renege on that oath, you have NO honor. Still, I appreciate all you do to protect us from the crazies of the world and know that most of you work very hard to keep them from killing us and you and your children. Just remember what you said when sworn in to defend the United States Constitution and its basic principles.

AN OATH IS FOREVER!

That’s a legitimate point. The Wahabbi Sunnis are even more ferocious in their persecution of those whom they consider apostates than they are in their persecution of almost anyone else.

At one time, there were countless Sufi shrines all over the Middle East; now, where the Wahabbis go, those shrines are destroyed, the Sheikhs liquidated, and the murids are forced to flee for their lives.

The feeling of detestment is mutual; ask any Sufi what they think about Wahabbis, and the phrase “agents of the devil” routinely pops up.

"When the insurgents seized it, all Christians were forced to leave - every single one."

I truly don't understand how the UN and other nations puts up with the atrocities against Christians. I'm not a religious man (agnostic), but I just don't get why the world is okay with killing peaceful Christians. It goes on and on.

The enemy is radical Islam, which I believe to be bigger than most peaceniks think. It has been for years. Forget the Crusades, that was then and this is now with Muslims currently raping, beheading, mutilating young girls' genitals, so-called honor killings, women being subservient, being second class citizens who can't even go out in public without a male family member, not to mention not able to drive in Saudi Arabia.

Where are the NOW hags? National Organization for Women? Pfft. You women are not about rights, you're about your own agendas. You are a shame on all women of substance.

The cult of Islam makes NO sense and is the antithesis of all human rights that our nation has believe in and promoted for years. But yet, the UN and others can ignore the atrocities in the Sudan, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and other African countries that slaughter Christians by machete and gunfire. The muslims in those countries wantingly kill anyone Christian.

NO, the UN is concerned about our elections and the thug Trayvon Martin. The UN is the most worthless hypocritical government body in the World. Yet, the Obamas, Clintons, Kerry's, Pelosi's and others think we should bow down to them as Obama did to the King of Saudi Arabia. I couldn't despised them anymore even if I tried.

Western civilization is going down folks. The barbarians are at the gates. My suggestion: lay low for now, but be prepared. The cult of Islam is infiltrating our country - standby...
