Americans are slamming at least 22 members of Congress with thousands of phone calls and emails, urging lawmakers not to approve a military strike on Syria by a margin of as much as 499 to 1.
A national debate is raging on Twitter. Tweets and statements from members of Congress both Democrat and Republican show tremendously strong opposition to President Obamas call for an air strike on Syria:

In the end, votes in Congress won’t make any difference.
Damascus will be destroyed and left uninhabited.
Dear Senator Rob Portman;
We the People do not want to do anything in regards to Syria. It is obvious from the hearings that this administration is truly mislead and ignorant as to the situation in Syria. There is though one core moral truth we know.
President Obama has no authority to usurp the power of the UN or the World Court. The United States has NO RIGHT to act as Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Where is the United Nations Security Council? At least President Bush went to the UN, he didn’t like t he answer he got...but the rest of the world had a say.
Now is the time to stop this Imperial Presidency. Foreign Assassinations, Drone Strikes, and now war? Yes, We the People, are not stupid. This “action” you will be voting on, even with a proposed 90 day timeline, will result in Regional War. A regional war that we will lose, a regional war that will affect our trade with China and holds grave potential to cause harm to the homeland.
Please Senator Portman, I beg you to vote no on a military action. The World has means to bring Assad to justice. It is not up to the United States. We’ve gone from being the world’s police force to playing the world’s god?
In the end it might make a difference on whether we join Damascus in its fate.
if not by obama by someone else.
if by obama, it probably goes down that one or two of those yahkont ship killers takes out one or two carriers. obama launches a nuke at damascus from a sub somewhere.
It doesn’t say that it needs to be us.
Saudi Arabia doesn’t need us, they can take on Assad with their own Army
I called My Congressman’s office and told them how much and in what ways I was opposed to this Syrian fiasco.
The assistant advised that she could not tell me how many people had called on the issue.
I then made it simple and said, “I bet you can count on one hand the number of your constituents who have called indicating that they were in favor of bombing Syria.” She acknowledged that fact.
Still, she told me she did not know how he was going to vote. I said I would call her back every day until she can give me an answer.
Oh please congress go over the American people’s heads ONE MORE TIME...
Maybe it will wake people the hell up...
Mindblowing ain’t it?
Just called our boys, Senators Saxby and Johnny, after having learned that Saxby is ready to go in to Syria militarily after all, and that poor Johnny, still isn’t sure, but since Saxby is, he is leaning that way.
While there, I let them have my opinion about 0bamacare, and immigration “reform” as well, just for good measure : /
Those two, ya gotta pin notes to their shirts...
So our Congresscritter, Kingston SEEMS to be holding to voting No to Syria, but like so many, their opinion can turn on a dime : /
Sigh.
I have written to mine twice this week.
I wouldn't disagree - but that shouldn't stop us from trying.
So do we have a representative form of government or not?
“Damascus will be destroyed and left uninhabited.”
Obama is the Nobel Peace president. He will try to bomb and leave no casualties. (Ineffectively, in other words.) I can gurantee that only military targets will get hit. However, Assad will crowd every military target with little children. There will be news camaras to record the pain and suffereing.
We are about to find out... ;)
I have an hour or more each day to work to call and bitch. I spent about 20 minutes expressing my dissatisfaction with my RINO Congressman who still hasn’t chimed in on this issue.
We have a Naval Facility in our district that probably employs about 30 people (including the members of the service). I suspect he doesn’t want to piss off Hagel and lose that perk for his district. In the meantime we have about 15% unemployment in his district and a freeway to where all the jobs are that is rated as the most congested in the US.
I gave her an earful. She was nice and said she would “pass my concerns onto” the Congressman. I then advised her that all she needed to do was to just tell the NSA to give him the summary of our phone conversation since he voted to extend the law that allows them to listen in.
It is beyond time to get pissed off. These people are being paid to answer the phones, so let’s give them all an earful.
Talked to both Isakson and Chamblee staff’s yesterday (GA) .
Both said they “wrote down” the message, and “would pass it along”. Yeah. Right. Sure. OK.
Isakson’s staffer sounded wimpy - but at least he said that Isakson would demand a clear line of action, and clear instructions before he would vote “yes”. That’s not much, but it is not a “yes” vote. Yet.
On the other hand, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs said yesterday that the Pentagon had “No Directions” and “No guidelines” about what they were to do.
Odd. Thought the Pentagon was to “run tactics” and “do that strategy thing” about warfare.
