Marino comes out against Syria attack, sharply questions Kerry, Hagel
The Scranton Times-Tribune ^ | September 5, 2013 | BORYS KRAWCZENIUK

In strong language, U.S. Rep. Tom Marino made his opposition to intervention in Syria abundantly clear Wednesday, pointedly questioning Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel at a House hearing.

Mr. Marino predicted American soldiers would ultimately die if the U.S. gets involved.

Despite President Barack Obama's assurance that no American troops would enter the ground war in Syria, Mr. Marino predicted even Mr. Obama's planned limited response to the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons would backfire on the U.S.

"And this I cannot accept. Soldiers coming home deformed and limbless and even in a body bag is not acceptable to me," Mr. Marino said during a House Foreign Affairs Committee meeting, vowing to vote against a military strike.

Mr. Hagel reminded Mr. Marino that the resolution under consideration in Congress specifically promises that "no boots would be on the ground" in Syria.

"I've heard that before," Mr. Marino said.

I HOPE the GOP House members remember that bastard Boehner and his craven pandering here, with Obamacare and with illegal aliens and kick his butt out of the Speaker’s position

Heard that. They were great. Duncan’s father should be sitting in the White House.

Good for him. I suspect that we have had SF operators on the ground there for some time, and I fear that they might be discovered, held prisoner, and tortured on camera. This would be all the idiot-in-chief would need to plunge us into a disaster.

Rush made the point today that Obama wants Congress to vote no. That way he can try to portray himself as a tough guy rather than the coward that he is and blame it on the Republicans. He will say that the Republicans are opposing him on this just like everything else, most likely because they are racists. In this way he will become unaccountable. I believe Rush is right.

It doesn't matter. Obama already is a fool to the rest of the world. We should not get involved in Syria's civil war.

If the rebels did use the gas, then he will look like even a bigger fool!

.
That’s what worries me.

Remember the fool in Germany who blew his brains out after he allowed his country to be utterly destroyed? His staff was as incompetent and evil as Obama’s.

One thing Germany had in its favor in those days: no diversity. It did help that nation in the rebuilding of it.

Obama has said loudly and clearly that he DID NOT have to abide by any congressional decision. He also said bad not very nice things about the UN - I don’t think the higher-ups in the UN like him very much right now.

SO no, I don’t think Obama can use a House denial as an excuse - like the red line, his words are out there for everyone to see.

Kerry has said same thing more than once in the last few days - Obama doesn’t need the approval of Congress, he was just being a nice guy letting them vote on it.

Kerry has been asked in these hearing if Obama will still strike Syria if COngress votes against it, and Kerry wouldn’t answer.

YES an airborne drop! They would all be on a dope rope, what could go wrong?

For the protection of the air crews they may have to go out a bit high and at night. I have seen many blab without taking a breath, so oxygen is NOT a problem, put them out at 30k.

The next day we can have an internet 'vote' about resupply.

Biden’s been awfully silent - he usually makes the rounds. I wonder if there’s disunity there...
