Sen. Bob Corker: What is it youre seeking?
Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: I cant answer that, what were seeking. Senate hearing on the use of force in Syria, Sept. 3.
We have a problem. The president proposes attacking Syria, and his top military officer cannot tell you the objective. Does the commander in chief know his own objective? Why, yes. A shot across the bow, explained Barack Obama.
Unless Obama can show the country that his dont-mock-me airstrike is, in fact, part of a serious strategic plan, Congress should vote no.

What is it he’s seeking? 0bama is seeking shelter for the next 3 years from several scandals that threaten to bring him down. Imagine launching a few cruise missiles into Syria which begets a retaliatory response from Iran. So the next 3 years we will be at war with the ayatollahs to divert attention away from the illegal alien in the White House as well as all of his illegal and unconstitutional acts.
I cant answer that, what were seeking.
Is this a bad script or are these words from the leaders of the free world?
Let the potus get in one of those circus cannons and we can fire him across a bow somewhere.
I can’t tell you - in other words trust us. Um, that’ll be no. Not a chance in h#ll, not with the BS we’ve seen continually coming out of this administration.
Economy sucks, too many scandals in the administration, start a war.
There have been so many lies from Barry’s boys, I believe nothing from Washington...
Evil droolers and belly button gazers.
Dempsey is a loser
They harass us for answers, votes and money but we cannot bother them with explanation of objectives?
Gotcha, the only objective is tyranny then.
I cant answer that, what were seeking.
Amazing response. Of course it could also mean that Obama is looking for an expanded war in the mid east to include Iran but does not wish that fact be known.
IMO, when a political party refused to back an “incursion” into Cambodia to cut off supplies to those killing our troops in S. Vietnam and did not care to note that was a threat against our country, I refuse to go along with anything they cite as a treat to our interests. In fact in this case, we have NO strategic interests in Syria, not now, not in the past all the way back to the time of Christ and surely not in the future either. Slither back to DC boy wonder and shut your pie hole on this matter.
Frankly, I would prefer an unserious shot across the bow to a serious war. Doesn’t Charles realize by now that serious wars have serious consequences? Can the War Party at least wait until we enounter an actual threat to our national security before launching the next serious war?
I just a few minutes ago sent Senator Cornyn an email urging him to vote no to any legislation concerning a strike in Syria. I included in my email an excerpt from Peggy Noonan’s today’s article in the WSJ. I think Peggy captures most Americans feelings with this paragraph.
“What are the American people thinking? Probably some variation of: Wrong time, wrong place, wrong plan, wrong man.”
I did not feel it would be necessary to msg my other senator; Ted Cruz :)
The true test of whether Dempsey has a shred manhood in him will be if Congress votes down authorization of use of force, and 0bama orders it anyway.
Will he uphold the Constitution and refuse to follow an illegal order? Or will he just cave like the German generals did with Hitler?
I liked the quote by Mark Steyn: “In the middle east, the enemy of our enemy is our enemy”
Pretty much sums it up.
Leftists never make any sense, why should they start now?
Senator Inhofe, Senator Coburn, and Representative Tom Cole. All Republicans from Oklahoma. Already know how they will vote.
Assad knows who did it. He didnt have to see the Israeli prime minister preening about it on world television.
This really says it all. You can't take the community organizer out of him. It's like a stench that won't go away.
This time, Chris Matthews nailed it-it’s all about “saving Obama’s hide.” Is it worth American assets and American blood to help Obama save face? Only to Chris Matthews.
What about your representative in the House? Contact him/her yet? The Senate is probably lost. It’s the House vote that matters.
I don't care what his strategic plan is, Congress should still vote no. Bombing Syria is not in this country's best interest.
“What about your representative in the House? Contact him/her yet? The Senate is probably lost. Its the House vote that matters.”
Kenny Marchant is my House Representative. He’s a rock solid conservative Tea Party guy. In fact he periodically attends the Conservative Club that I’m a member of for a Q&A. So, I’m not worried about his vote. I know where he stands. But, what about you? Who’s your rep and where does he/she stand on this?
