A modification to Californias prison realignment program has made thousands of newly freed criminals exempt from warrantless compliance searches by police, making it more difficult for officers to check for illegal items like drugs, guns, and stolen property.
The search exemptions are not regularly included in law enforcement databases so street cops say its virtually impossible to know whether someone stopped for questioning or visited for a probation check can be legally searched absent other probable cause or a search warrant.

Ah, newly released felons=a new protected class. Will released convicted felons become a “race” like the hispanics are, all of a sudden, a “race”? Will folks from West Virginia (random pick, nothing against WV) become a “race”? Next census form I get, I think in the “race” section I may check “other” and write in gun owner.
Most cops think breathing is probable cause.............
Perhaps they could pass the time instead by reading the Fourth Amendment over and over and over until they get it.
Well, you could threaten to shoot their dog if they don’t allow the search......
