ONLY GOD GIVES PEACE

The Lord will give [unyielding and impenetrable] strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace. — Psalm 29:11

One of the greatest ways God speaks to us and leads us is through the inner witness. In other words, we just know inside what is right or wrong. It is a deeper level of knowing than “head knowledge.” This type of knowing is in the spirit—we simply have peace or a lack of peace. By the presence or absence of peace, we know what we should do.

I once spoke with a woman who needed to make a serious decision. Her family and friends were giving her advice, but she needed to know within herself what the right answer was because she was the one who would have to live with it. She had been in a certain business all of her life and was feeling that she wanted to get out of it and stay home with her children. Of course, this would require drastic financial adjustments and personal changes for her, things that could even affect her emotionally. She needed to know from God, not from other people, what the right decision was.

The woman went to a retreat with a relative. During the course of that weekend, as she praised and worshipped God and listened to the speaker, a knowing and a peace came into her heart that she was indeed right about closing the business. She said a moment just came when she knew what was right. She has had peace about her decision ever since.

It is amazing how well-meaning people can tell us things, yet they really don’t affect us. But when God speaks to us about a matter, it has a great impact on us. Ask God for the inner witness that only He can give.

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.

O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is loving kindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Psalm 130:7 & 8

Light Up The Night

September 8, 2013

On a mild fall evening when the sky was dark and the moon was full, thousands of people in my hometown gathered along the banks of the river to light sky lanterns. They released them into the darkness, and watched as the lights rose to join the moon in a dazzling display that turned the night sky into a sparkling work of art.

When I saw pictures of the event, I was disappointed that I was out of town and had missed it. But a few days later I realized that what had happened in Grand Rapids could be seen as a symbol of the conference I was attending in New York City. More than 1,000 people from 100 cities around the world had gathered there to plan a “work of art”—how to light up the darkness of their own cities by planting churches and reaching thousands of people with the gospel of Christ, the Light of the world.

The prophet Daniel wrote about a time when those who turn others to the Lord will shine like stars forever (Dan. 12:3). We can all join in that great event. When we shine the light of Christ in dark places where we live and work, He is lighting up the night sky with stars that never will go out.

I want to shine for You in my world, Lord. Show
me how to lift You up, the Light of the world. I look
forward to that day when I will gather with people
from all nations to bow at Your feet and worship You.
When the Light of the world illuminates the earth, His beauty will attract people from every nation.

Read: Daniel 12:1-3

Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament. —Daniel 12:3

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Lynn-Dah and i did some very good “Yard-saling” this morning.

I will be solo tomorrow at church, because the other musicians can’t do tomorrow’s service for different reasons.

That’s OK. Going solo is the story of my life, and i’m getting used to it. LOL.

Good evening, Mac, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to the MacNessa family.

Hope you’ve had a relaxing day. We had HEAVY rain early in the day, but then some sun, and now it is threatening rain again. I went to see a body shop guy (he isn’t usually there on Saturday) and told him I didn’t care about pretty, just functional. I want my headlight aligned correctly, and the side light to stay where it is supposed to without duct tape. A kid pulled in front of me on an icy street last winter and I hit him, but had the right-of-way, and his mom asked if she could just pay me (and the kid was driving the owner’s car at the house he was housesitting) and leave the insurance out of it. I said yes...1984. I figured to get nothing from insurance. Of course after the first couple contacts they disappeared. The other insurance called and said I could still file a claim up to 2 years. I did last week and got a $1000!!! Talk about shocked!! So I’m trying to get the headlight fixed and have some bucks left over. The guy told me I needed to get a headlight bezel and he would tweak some metal frame and fix the problem. Now I am online trying to find one. The part looks to be under $20! More shock. Monday I’ll call here in town and see what pops ups.

It is amazing how little info some websites give, but I now know, via those “exploded” illustrations, exactly what I’m looking for. I’m satisfied with my search.

I hope you can get that problem with your vehicle resolved! No good deed goes unpunished when it comes to dealing with auto accidents and insurance companies.

My sister is under the weather so we had a slight change in plans - Mrs. MacNessa and I journeyed out to a local brewery pub. We had an excellent dinner, Quesadillas for an appetizer, Mrs. Mac had Penne with shrimp accompanied by a nice Chardonnay and I had Fish and Chips with an excellent IPA. Key Lime Pie for dessert - made by someone who knows that Key Limes are yellow when ripe.

Now I'm mellowing out watching my beloved Fighting Irish going down to defeat at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines. You can't take it away from the Wolverines - they are playing an awesome game.

HEAR MY PRAYER,
O GOD, INCLINE THINE EAR!

"Hear My Prayer / O For The Wings Of A Dove"
Felix Mendelssohn
(Click)

"Hear my prayer, O God, incline Thine ear!
Thyself from my petition do not hide.
Take heed to me! Hear how in prayer I mourn to Thee,
Without Thee all is dark, I have no guide.
The enemy shouteth, The godless come fast!
Iniquity, hatred, upon me they cast!
The wicked oppress me, Ah where shall I fly?
Perplexed and bewildered, O God, hear my cry!
My heart is sorely pained, within my breast,
my soul with deathly terror is oppressed,
trembling and fearfulness upon me fall,
with horror overwhelmed, Lord, hear me call,
O for the wings, for the wings of a dove!
Far away, far away would I rove!
In the wilderness build me a nest,
and remain there for ever at rest."

Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine, secundum verbum tuum in pace:
Quia viderunt oculi mei salutare tuum
Quod parasti ante faciem omnium populorum:
Lumen ad revelationem gentium, et gloriam plebis tuae Israel.
(Lucas 2:29-32 BSV)

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper et in sæcula sæculorum. Amen.

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace,
according to thy word:
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
(Luke 2:29-32 KJV)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
World without end, Amen.
