(CNN) -- A man who police said was 107 years old was killed in a confrontation with SWAT officers Saturday night.

Police were called to a home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where suspect Monroe Isadore was.

"When they arrived, they were able to determine that an aggravated assault had occurred against two people at the residence," Lt. David E. Price, a Pine Bluff police spokesman, said in a statement.

Or may be they were family trying to force him into a nursing home. That sounds more reasonable.

Perhaps it is time for mandatory drug testing of all law enforcement personnel. After all we have Congressional hearings regarding the use of steroids among athletes. The “S” in SWAT is for steroids.

“Hey dad, what did you do at work today? Well son, me and my macho SWAT buddies murdered a dangerous 107 year old man. Sleep tight tonight, you’re safe now.”

It’s still America here in northern Alabama, and I suspect this is the case when you get outside of most cities.

It is hard to see how it is possible for a 107 year old man warrants a SWAT Team.

Surely, there was some other option.

I realize when you fire on a police officer you expect to be shot.

But think about this, why did they not simply wait for him to come out for a potty break.

NUTS!

They wanted that notch on their belt.

From the same article, a few sentences down...

Gates originally named the platoon "Special Weapons Assault Team"; however, this name was not generally favored and was rejected by his manager, deputy police chief Ed Davis, as sounding too much like a military organization. Wanting to keep the acronym "SWAT", Gates changed its expanded form to "special weapons and tactics".

That's what SWAT is, folks, a military (wanabe) organization. And the enemy, er adversary, is We the People.

You are dead on.
Bullies that have moved up to the next level is all they are.
And just like all bullies the only thing that makes them stop is their own blood all over the place.

Exactly. If you’re alive there’s always one more thing you can do.I would think that 107 is probably a record for oldest person killed by police action.I hope this incident hounds those pussy-prick cops until the day they die.

I'm thinking....they couldn't wait until 8pm? That would have been wayyyyyyy past his bedtime.

Seriously, they didn't have to send in the swat team, gas the guy, lob in a grenade (they called distraction device)and then kill him.

107 years old....really? Besides, ya know, they had to get this thang done....dinner was right around the corner and all.

They could have waited him out, not take his life.

The two victims were led out of the house.
It was not clear what role the suspect had in the aggravated assaults or what they were.”

Maybe he was trying to defend himself from something these two people were doing to him, do-gooders or not.

Just before I left the USSA, I noticed that even small town cops were morphing into jack=booted thugs. Too much TV and movies I guess.
No more good old boys on the beat.

Better end to this story, except an even better end would be that he didn’t lose his house because of taxes.

Personally, I can understand where the 107-year-old was coming from.

No way would he let them take him alive.

What, and spend the rest of his life rotting in prison?

No way.

Cant believe the responses on here. He was alleged to have committed aggravated assault on two people. He pointed a gun at police.....he SHOT at police through the bedroom door!

So the cops should have just said “Ok gramps, calm down, we’ll come back in the morning and we’ll talk.”? You’re out of your minds!

If you think that is the right course of action then let’s move you in next door to him with you kids and spouse.

Go ahead and indicate your willingness to do that in any replies.

Idiots!

Or, we are being educated as to the consequences of elections and generations of communism via the Democratic Party.

May be nothing will be done about it in NH or the North East, but such as this militarized LEO and nobama’s liberal BS is wearing thin in many other parts who have the capacity and grit to do something about it.

Too few, and fewer each day.

I have neighbors who I really like who might react similar to this guy under the same circumstances.

We have a lot of experience caring for elderly family members. I have no illusions about that.

But, 107?? The article did not say what the “aggravated assault” was. I read elsewhere that it was he pulled a gun on the 2 individuals who were in his house. More than likely they were trying to force him into a home, understandable at 107. Many elderly resist that. Would you, if you felt you did not want to go?

A sign of sane adult local law enforcement.

This was once how things were done. Our local law enforcement is still like that. The local officer (1) here has been at it for almost 30 years. He does a good job of balancing sanity and order with the law.

You could have hit the nail on its head.

In which case the 107 was right to prefer to die with his boots on rather than wither away and be humiliated to death by the lowlifes that work many nursing homes.
