The New Republic Bashes Rand Paul for Caring About Syrian Christians
dailycaller.com ^ | 09/05/2013

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is being criticized by The New Republic for concern over Christians after Syrian rebels attacked a Syrian Christian village.

In an article titled “Rand Paul’s Syria Bible Thumping: Why does he only seem to care about the country’s Christians?” journalist Julia Ioffe rails, “Paul’s emphasis on Syrian Christians is more than a simple reminder of a neglected aspect of an already complicated situation.”

Ioffe continues, Rand’s concern over Christians in Syria “sounds distinctly like the garbage about America being a Christian nation, like the unnerving evangelical support of Israel, like the not-too-subtle hum on the right that some lives, Christian lives, are simply more important than other, Muslim ones.”

On Wednesday morning, rebels from the al-Qaida-linked Jabhat al-Nusra group launched the assault on predominantly Christian Maaloula, some 60 kilometers (40 miles) northeast of Damascus, according to a Syrian government official and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an anti-regime group, The Associated Press reported.

Maaloula is a mountain village with about 2,000 residents, who are among a tiny group in the region that still speaks a version of Aramaic, the ancient language of biblical times also believed to have been spoken by Jesus.

At the start of the attack, an al-Nusra fighter blew himself up at a regime checkpoint at the entrance to the village, said the Observatory, which collects information from a network of anti-regime activists, AP said.

AP spoke to a nun from the village who chose to remain anonymous. “It’s a war. It has been going from 6 a.m. in the morning,” she said from her convent, which houses 13 nuns and 27 orphans. She said around 80 people from the village had come to the convent for safety.

The small population of Christians in Syria are caught in the middle of the conflict. They have no power and simply want to be left alone.

Because Julia, Christians don't fly planes into buildings.

Why does she get her panties in a wad because somebody shows concern for Christians?

All over the world Muslims are fighting and killing and we call them the Religion of Peace.

If we don’t soon stop them there will be peace alright. The peace of the dead, and the enslaved.

So the moral position here is based on indifference to deaths if the victims are not muslims?

I’m going to paraphrase a little here:

“Liberal morality: the view that a Christian found brutally shot to death in Syria along with his entire family is somehow morally superior to a Christian describing to CNN how he seized an AK-47 and killed his Muslim attackers and saved his family members’ lives.”

She and her ilk think we ought to have been better conditioned by the media, scholarly enlightenment, the “handwriting on the wall”, and influential political leaders by now. If not, we’ll have simply self-identified our unworthiness as mindless, bitter clingers, forever deserving the ultimate solution of “unprotected status.”

No one dare mentions the plight of “Christians” anywhere, but Rand Paul. Christians are just not in vogue with anyone these days.

Thanks, Rand Paul.

“Why does Obama only seem to care about Russia’s gays?”

That’s where he and Larry Sinclair want to relocate when he gets through destroying the United States. He’s looking for a place somewhere in Siberia, about as far away from America as possible. And he knows Putin usually leaves sodomites alone in Siberia. Putin figures they’ll freeze to death so whybother. Barry has it all figured out. He’s already told Michele about his plans.

So what is she going to do about it? Isn’t she advocating proselytism of her own in he interventionism? I guess we cannot tech bad children to behave with Christians. Someone tells this idiot that pointing the plight of Christians is not necessarily bout benefiting them but about benefiting the rest into being of food manners.

But this evil evious selfish ill creature is so jealous and narcissistic, it rather would see evil around her than see good lest anyone but herself would benefit from good.

These people are faithless evil stupid fools.

I care about the Christians in Syria, and any other non Muslim group wanting to survive. Too bad we can’t stash them safely away while the Muslims kill each other.

It’s a pity that Rand Paul can’t come out with a statement like, “America needs to care about Syrian Christians, because they are the only decent people in Syria. Both Muslims and atheists are so obnoxious that Americans can’t be expected to care if they slaughter each other.”

I believe that homosexuality and narcissism are inextricably linked. We lived in a narcissistic time with the most narcissistic president ever so the rise of homosexuality in our culture is a consequence of that in my humble opinion.

Christians are being purged in Iraq, Egypt, Libya, and now Syria.

The Iraqi population dropped by half from about 700,000 in 2000 to 350,000 in 2012. (3% to 1.5%)

The Syrian population is about 2.5 million. They know what happened in Iraq. They have every right to be anxious.

Rand Paul has every right to be concerned.

So Rand Paul has more sympathy for Christians than for Muslims. The horror!

I guess Obama's priorities are more to Ioffe's liking, as Obama only seems to have humanitarian concerns when the victims of an alleged injustice are Muslims, blacks, or homosexuals.
