A FOX Sports Southwest commentator was reportedly fired for making some pretty awful anti-gay comments ... the wrinkle is that he hurled the homophobic remarks long before he was hired.
Craig James -- a star at SMU and a former member of the New England Patriots in the '80s -- ran for a senate seat in Texas. During a 2012 debate, he had some choice words: Gay people "would answer to the Lord for their actions," and being gay was a choice.
James was hired last month by Fox Sports Southwest and then reportedly fired after just one appearance. According to the Dallas Morning News, an unnamed Fox Sports honcho said, "We just asked ourselves how Craig's statements would play in our human resources department."
Apparently Fox didn't fully vet the dude. The question -- should he be sacked for statements he made before coming on board?

To me, this is unbelievable. I am not seeing how what he said was that bad. As a Christian, I don't see the problem. We ALL will answer to God, and sexual behavior is a choice. The feelings might not be a choice, but sexual acts are a choice. He never said he hated those who are gay; he never said gay people should be discriminated against on a daily basis at places like restaurants and stores and shunned like pariahs; he never said to physically attack gay people; he never said gay people should be killed. Those comments would be wrong, but he never said that.
They may not have criminalized "hate speech" yet, but they are making it hard to share your Christian beliefs or live them because they will attack your livelihood. That man with the trolley business in Maryland had to stop doing weddings because gay marriage is against his Christian beliefs; a Christian couple recently had to shut down their bakery because they didn't want to do a wedding cake for a gay marriage; photographers have had issues with not wanting to do gay marriages; this man has lost his job because of his Christian beliefs. It's getting ridiculous, and it will get worse.
Gay people “would answer to the Lord for their actions,
How is that ‘homophobic’? This is what pretty much every Christian believes. Deplorable anti-Christian crap.
Well 20 years ago (and for the previous 15 centuries) we wouldn't have used the word gay at all.
It would have been Queer, and it should still be that so we can return the happy word Gay to its rightful place in the English language instead of letting a bunch of sexual deviants hijack it.
He was right on both counts
If that's the problem, get rid of all the fags in your Human Resources Department.
I thought he was fired for killing five hookers.
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT GUY. OK he wants to go into politics so he choses to start out running for the Senate but not the House. Let’s just say that I think he needs to be cut down a notch. Interfering with his sons’ college coach tells you enough about his need to throw his celebrity status around.
Uh, someone tell me how what he said was anything other than a free expression of a religious point of view?
ya...80% of homosexuals chose to be molested as children.
No correlation there, of course.
No. He should not be sacked. If his current behavior on the job does not present as discrimination, what he does or did in the past or on his own time is none of the company's business. It is time to kick the extremists out of our private lives.
Now our sodomite overlords can destroy any person not sufficiently subservient and groveling by soliciting for an overheard "homophobic" comment thirty yeas ago.
No, but they did choose that deathstyle after they were trained.
Why are we talking about sexual proclivities on a sports talk show?
The truth is definitely pretty awful.
“...pretty awful anti-gay comments...”
80% of homosexuals were molested as children.
The other 20% were doing the molesting..
Course percentages are on a sliding scale..
It’s the Cycle that counts... and there is a cycle..
Hermaphrodites are rightly confused..
but even they can make sense of gender identity with help..
Maybe he was thinking about the packers.
He didn’t say it on a sports talk show, he said it during his ill-fated Senate run.
Word hijack alert:
Homophobia - Fear of homosexuals.
NEW DEFINITION - Any perceived lack of enthusiastic endorsement of the homosexual lifestyle.
Exactly.....Tolerance is not enough, they demand you CELEBRATE IT!
He shouldn’t have been hired to begin with. And there are so many reasons. But what he said was no reason to fire him. If that’s insulting to gays, what about straight people who find gays insulting. This whole damn world needs to go back to “don’t ask, don’t tell”. That’s they way it was when I was growing up. We knew some people who were gay but they didn’t go around town bragging about it. And not one was every assaulted.
I didn't click on the article, but from the excerpt posted, I don't see how stating that someone has to answer to God and that homosexuality is a choice are "awful" "anti-gay" comments.
One could infer that if you believe that everyone has to answer to God for his actions (I believe that), you are "anti-gay."
If that's the case, sign me up.
“Why are we talking about sexual proclivities on a sports talk show?”
I think that’s more to the point.
Of course - I didn’t think about that before I replied.
Believe it or not I've seen it used in late-nineteenth and early twentienth-century writings to refer to prostitutes.
Well, if he did that there is a chance he could be re-hired but, they still kind of send you to jail for that stuff... unless you’re a kennedy or kerry or hillary or....
Which reminds me, Congratulations to Coach Leach for beating the University of Spoiled Children, last night.
“80% of homosexuals chose to be molested as children.”
And the other 20% were molested against their will?
Same-sex attraction disorder is the result of a seduction or molestation in the pre-adult years.
“Thats they way it was when I was growing up. We knew some people who were gay but they didnt go around town bragging about it.”
When I was growing up, you could not remain in our town if it became known that you were a sodomite (complicity in the use of the euphemism “gay” to mean “sodomite” is, IMO, a mortal sin).
The town photographer once put his hand on a teenage boy. He was gone before morning. Further, deponent sayeth naught.
HUH? This is what he said:
Gay people "would answer to the Lord for their actions," and being gay was a choice.
How is that "awful?
He helped destroy two Top Ten football programs. First, he was one of the reasons SMU got the Death Penalty. Then, when Coach Mike Leach fussed at his son a little bit, James whined like a little baby and used his ESPN clout to get Leach fired.
“No, but they did choose that deathstyle after they were trained.”
I don’t think so.
No one turns a hair at the notion that a 13-year-old girl would be seriously traumatized if forcibly raped by a (for example) 45-year-old stranger. If the girl then became a lesbian, people would just nod sadly and say, “Yeah, I can see that.”
At the same time, many people seem unwilling to accept that a 13-year-old boy would be just as traumatized (more, actually) if similarly raped. If that boy becomes a sodomite himself, and not all raped or seduced boys do, pointing out the obvious causal link is decried as “bigotry” or “hate speech.”
Soldiers don’t choose to develop PTSD. Raped women don’t choose to be traumatized. And raped boys do not choose to develop SSAD as a result of their trauma.
Okay, I’m bigoted against same-sex attraction disorder and the loathsome perversions committed by sufferers therefrom, and I hate the push to legitimize this ghastly epidemic. Sometimes I find it difficult to separate my hate for the sin from appropriate feelings for the sinner—who is up in my face demanding that I enthusiastically endorse his sin.
If leftards have a problem with that, let them lock and load, and come get me.
Given the crimes committed against the young by each and every sodomite, we have an absolute moral duty to discriminate against them in every area of life.
They should not be allowed to work or live beside normal people, and they certainly should not be allowed any access whatsoever to the young. We should extend to sodomites every assistance, both psychiatric and spiritual, in overcoming the tragedy that has befallen them, but we must never cave in to the lie that sodomy itself is anything other than Satanic evil.
Christians need not apply? Vote please!
Actually, God’s judgment is on people who practice sexual immorality, which includes two people cohabiting without being married. I wonder how many Freepers who object to the action of Fox Sports are in this category?
Jesus made the rules plain in Revelation 22:15, and many other passages as well.
Amen, brother. Craig is thought of as a first rate weasle and second rate at everything else.
His occupation with self, however, doesn’t excuse the epidemic chill of speech, particularly Christian, going around.
Frankly, Pope Francis is the only one pushing back to actually land a blow, willing to practice his faith in public, somewhat in the style of “in-your-face”, with no regard for his popularity, beholden to no one.
Sorry—I misread the article. We could have used him on the field today. We just needed half a yard and Brady dropped it.
Fire me then... Queers need to have their d*cks cut off before they can spread their disease...
But you're wrong. By their own admission, they have to recruit:
"Get 'em by eight, before it's too late"
Can’t believe sarc tags are needed in these cases!!!!???
Of COURSE they DID NOT CHOSE TO BE MOLESTED!!!
THAT IS THE POINT I WAS MAKING!
Over 80% of Homosexuals, men and women, were molested as children.
The women then repulsed by men.
The men, confused and trying to cope.
Craig James is a jerk... However he has an open and shut case of religious employment discrimination.
“But you’re wrong. By their own admission, they have to recruit: “Get ‘em by eight, before it’s too late”
Yes, but it is the trauma that induces SSAD.
“Cant believe sarc tags are needed in these cases!!!!???”
Can’t believe you didn’t see that I was agreeing with you.
Maybe he was thinking about the packers.
Actually, he was thinking about the rams!
Well then we agree.
That’s why I use the accurate description:
Disease-ridden, boy-raping, whackjobs...instead of “gay”. They ARE NOT benign.
The "redskins" ...the list goes on and on.
“They ARE NOT benign.”
About as benign as Satan, who introduced sodomy to the world.
