Amash: ‘If Americans could read classified docs, they’d be even more against Syria action’
The Daily Caller ^ | 9/8/2013

Posted on 09/08/2013 4:47:56 PM PDT by markomalley

Rep. Justin Amash, an outspoken opponent of U.S. intervention in the Syrian civil war, has taken to Twitter to voice his opposition to military intervention. Concurrently, the Michigan Republican warns the American people of misleading claims being made by the Obama administration.

Amash noted that he attended a classified briefing in which evidence for the limited attack on Bashar al-Assad’s Baathist dictatorship was presented to legislators who are now debating a war vote. Though Obama administration officials hope to win congressional support, Amash indicated the briefing had the opposite effect on him.

Amash also suggested the administration is putting out inconsistent information to the public.

The tea party favorite said popular opposition to the Syria war plan, which is already strong, would only be supported by the classified documents.

We’ve got a conservative bloc here in Southern Michigan. Amash, Bentivolio and Walberg.

He’s my rep. He held 11 public meetings this week in 2 days to listen to his constituents. We went to one.

But Diane Feinstein said if we knew what she knew, speaking of the classified venue, we would be all in. She said her experience over the years makes her like to think that she is able to recognize actionable evidence. (paraphrasing)

Whom to believe? Amash, or Diane? SNARK/

China is now sending warships to the syrian theatre. Rushia already has ships there. The American people are saying no. Everyone but France is saying no. We have been given no evidence. This is the perfect time for Obamby to pull the trigger on America. This time we’ll be the Serbs.

“Amash also suggested the administration is putting out inconsistent information... “

When you reach the point that you can’t even keep your lies straight, it’s considered putting out inconsistent information!

Absolutely right. And Russia will do whatever it takes to protect Assad. The Russian economy is absolutely dependent on oil/natural gas sales to keep it going. If those sales plummet, their economy is kaput. This is a vital national security concern for Russia - more important for them than Chechen rebels, US missile defenses in Europe, etc.

The last thing Russia wants is competition from Qatar or Saudi Arabia for gas sales to Europe, via a pipeline through Syria, controlled by a puppet government set up by Qatar or Saudi Arabia.

There are apparently five of the G-20 nations now supporting this....and more will follow. Alot of Saudi money is being passed around to move this vote....both Internationally and within among our Government leaders.

Meanwhile Russia, Syria, and Iran meet tomorrow to counter Obama’s strike with a purposed diplomatic solution...which would exclude Assad remaining as Pres.

Will be interesting if this is accepted as Obama will claim he forced their hand....thus a victory for him...and likely why Obama changed his speech from Monday to Wed. now.

On the other hand if he refuses and goes ahead...the Russians and Syria and Iran can say they offered a reasonable solution....and they are prepared for war if he forges ahead.

The only thing is who will be acceptable to replace Assad. You will still have religious cleansing and the rebels will use gas again.

I read the title quickly and wondered why the Amish wanted to read classified docs.

No, really.

Most interested parties have administrations already lined up...Saudi does for sure and waiting for the US/Obama to hand it to them. This has been going on for over two years so interested parties are pretty much in place from all those who want to take over Syria.

Checkmate will be Russia, Syria and Iran having their own to install...which will have to be relatively moderate to pacify Obama. My gut tells me he won’t play ball with them...but the other International Leaders will I think.

If you’ve taken a look at Syria now....it’s pretty much destroyed all it’s infastructure..... and now reporting the Euphraties is polluted with oil spills from the fighting....so there’s a drinking water issue..and food issue.

Bottom line...no matter if or not Obama strikes...it’s not going to change the dynamics for a long time...fighting will still continue as is still happening in Egypt....Middle Easterners do not lay there arms down...they simply go to another area where there is a battle....and there is always one there to fight. It is the nature of the ME.

The facts show how in the tank for Obama the news media is.
Absolutely criminal.

I believe Putin will tactical nuke one of the US warships right out of the Med, because he can. He warned Obama clearly. An attack will be a disaster of incredible proportion.

Easier than that. Putin only needs to take out Saudi Arabia. The other US dominos will then fall.

Obama’s interest in invading non-enemy Syria has nothing to do with Syria, poison gas, or children.

Obama’s interest in bombing non-enemy Syria has everything to do with creating a long-lasting, controversial, DISTRACTION for Congress in order to keep Congress from defunding Obama”care”/Boehnerkare.

Obama’s “Red Herring” for the 9-11 Benghazi Massacre Coverup was Susan Rice’s fake Video story.

Obama’s “Red Herring” for distracting Congress until Obama”care”/ Boehnerkare kicks in October 1 is Obama’s “Crossing HIS personal Red Line” distraction speech.

Obama speaks only for Obama, not the US Federal Government or America.

.... likely why Obama changed his speech from Monday to Wed. now.

So you just know he's also going to be jumping on the chance to make 9-11 all about him, too. I can't think of much that's more disrespectful to those who died on 9-11 (2001 & Benghazi) than having Obama, with his support of Muslim terrorists, running his yap about/on 9-11.
