I dont know if youve noticed how the Enslaved Press is couching opposition to Obamas demand for military intervention in Syria as being from a war-weary nation.
Heres just a few examples: In addition to Congress, President Obama will need to convince a war-weary American public (MSNBC)
Obama was back in Washington Saturday preparing for an uphill battle to convince members of Congress and a war-weary American public to support military action in Syria (NBC)
The Obama administration, which came into office vowing to end the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, needs to convince a war-weary US public that it isnt being dragged into a third Middle Eastern Conflict. (Mark Thompson, TIME Magazine)
Grahams Hawkish Posture Confronts War-Weary Voters in South Carolina (US News & World Report Headline)
Barack Obamas Syria Challenge: A War-Weary Public (Politico Headline)
Obama takes case for Syria strikes to war-weary public (Al Jazeera America)
Obama Expands Push to Sell Syria Attack in War-Weary U.S. (Newsmax Headline)
Ah, yes. The only reason we are opposed to the United States fighting on the side of our enemies is because were war weary.
But of course! It isnt that Obama is trying to get us to join sides with al Qaeda that troubles us.
No. Not at all!
Rather, its all George W. Bushs fault.
If Bush hadnt taken us to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, we wouldnt be so war weary. Instead, wed be rallying behind our commander-in-chief as he argues for the US providing air support to the same folks who flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and sent an aircraft plummeting into the earth in Pennsylvania twelve years ago this coming Wednesday.
Were just so war-weary that we cant see the forest for the al Qaeda trees.
If it werent for Bush and his wars, we would be rising up with one unified voice and demanding that we fight with the radical jihadists the same jihadists who committed yet another atrocity against the US on September 11 of last year in Benghazi.
It has nothing to do with our horror at even the thought of fighting on the side of fundamentalist Islamists who seek the destruction of America and Israel.
No, not at all.
Were just war weary.
These fawning idiots in the Enslaved Press are shameless.
I dont know about you, but Im not suffering from war weariness.
I am, however, Obama-Weary.
I am so sick and tired of this incompetent, arrogant President lecturing and moralizing.
I am so sick and tired of Barack Obamas righteous indignation.
I am so weary of hearing Barack Obama give speech after speech.
Im tired of him.
Tired of the lies.
Tired of him fomenting resentment between Americans by dividing us by race or class or religion or gender.
Tired of Obama siding with Americans enemies.
Tired of Obama using his IRS and other Federal Agencies to harass and spy on American citizens.
Tired of Obama using the military as his own personal photo-op.
His constant claims about a supposed recovery in our economy when over ninety million Americans have dropped out of the labor force.
His scolding and lecturing us about how we live our lives or spend our own money when he lives like a king and spends the money we work hard to earn on himself and his family.
Im weary of Obama making excuses and blaming others for the things that he says and does.
Im weary of Obama taking credit for the hard work or dangerous work of others.
If Americans are weary of anything, it is the out of touch, arrogant bullshit coming out of Washington DC.
Not just from Obama, but from his feckless administration, the idiot Democrats in Congress and the Establishment GOP.
Americans are Washington-Weary.
Were weary of demanding that our elected officials act in accordance with our consent only to be ignored.
Were weary of Washington intruding into our everyday lives.
We are weary because we are being ignored by our own Representatives.
We are weary because arrogant sons of bitches like John McCain are dismissive of our concerns of using American military men and womens lives to advance radical Islamists in the Middle East.
We are weary.
But not of war.
We are weary of Washington.
We have no business getting involved in a civil war in Syria.
The rebels are the same radical monsters who turned Egypt and Libya into bloody, violent no-mans-lands.
But the Enslaved Press shrugs off the genuine concerns the American people have at acting as al Qaedas Air Force (as Ted Cruz said). Instead, the Enslaved Press chalks it up to a general war weariness brought on by that evil mastermind of all things bad in the Age of Obama, George W. Bush.
The same Enslaved Press who went full-on Anti-War in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq now scoffs at the American Peoples concern of fighting on the side of al Qaeda. The same Enslaved Press who warned that invading Iraq will embolden Americas enemies now have to provide air cover to their darling Obama whose ineptitude is emboldening Americas enemies.
To dismiss the concerns of the American People at fighting on the side of our enemies as simply being war-weary is insulting. It is insulting to the American People. It is insulting to our military men and women who would be asked to fight alongside the very monsters who tried to kill them in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Sure. Americans are weary.
Weary of being lied to by our elected officials.
Weary of this inept, arrogant man who would be King constantly siding with Americans enemies.
Don’t forget press-weary... and press-wary.
How about, “its the video stupid”. To paraphrase John Carville.
John Boner’s DC contact number is: 202-225-0600; press 1 for a staffer. Please call and comment on OBayMe’s Syrian intervention.
America is weary of militarily supporting the MuzzieBroz.
Maybe if someone could point to a benefit we’ve gained from 20 years of constant warfare?
I want to hear them talk about it on The View: “Barbara?”
Oh yes, I am weawy. I’m vewy waoh weawy.
Leave Pwesident Obama alone. Poor deah...
The benefits from war need to be seen both in terms of “opportunity cost”, what we could have been doing with those resources instead of war; and what the consequences would have been had we not gone to war.
During the H.W. Bush and Clinton years, it was estimated that the vast majority of potential conflicts in the world was in the equatorial latitudes, in a wide band reaching across Africa through to South Asia. The estimates were so dour that they could have led to another world war. Possibly a medium sized nuclear war had Israel been dragged into it, a good probability.
At the time we had not pieced together the various nations involved in the A. Q. Khan nuclear proliferation network, which included Pakistan, Libya, Egypt and others attempting to secretly create nuclear weapons that could be mounted on ballistic missiles.
Once known, we made it abundantly clear to all the players that the game was up and the proliferation was over. And we only knew because we went to war.
We were aware, however, that as a whole, Islam was about to blow up. And this presented a problem. Radical Muslims with enough chutzpah to be dangerous were dispersed all over the world. As such, they could have caused chaos. So what was needed was some means of concentrating them to fight our soldiers, instead of trying to stop them at a small scale from attacking civilians around the world.
By being so incredibly primitive and obnoxious, the Taliban and Saddam presented a superb opportunity to not just take them down, but to wipe out the most threatening part of Islam on our terms. They would come to us.
Attacking them blew their timetable for chaos and international violence. It depleted their resources and wiped out their “brain trust” of educated fanatics who represented a real threat.
The actual wars, in both cases, were brief and decisive. From there it was a matter of setting up nation sized “roach motels” to attract jihadi killers. The US and its allies in effect carried out two wars at the same time, an overt and covert war that at times was masterful.
The bottom line is that we “worked wonders and ate cucumbers”, but there was a cost to this. Americans need a rest between wars and occupations.
So yes, the public is “war-weary”, and while, if there was a competent leader in the White House, who could make a good case for why we needed to attack Syria, it might fly; the current ambiguous empty suit is far from inspirational.
Many of us are neither pacifists, war-weary, nor isolationists. We just think that Obama cannot be trusted (1)to make a fair determination of who used the gas and (2) whether a strike would put in power groups that are worse than Assad. Moreover, even if we knew that Assad used the gas and the rebels were on the side of the angels, we have to face the fact that America has become a nation of quitters that cannot be trusted to continue to support freedom fighters who stick-out their necks on our behalf.
Everything one would need to know to make a rational assessment of the cost/benefits are deeply classified.
Trust us, they explain.
Currently, yes. However in the previous two wars, military dissemination of justifications was a lot better, at least for those individuals who paid attention to such things, which does not include the MSM.
What is being done now is coming across as whimsical. Going to war because Obama feels like it, or some other, non-military or non-national security reason.
There is also great trepidation because liberals truly do not understand what a military is and does. Many of them believe such rot as “soldiers are just too stupid to work in minimum wage jobs”, that “they will always do what they are told”, and that “anybody can be trained in a week to be a soldier.”
In past, you can hear the sneering contempt they have for all military personnel. Somebody like Nancy Pelosi truly believes that if she put on the uniform of a six-star general, it would make her one.
I can envisualize an on-line conference where these save-obama-at-all-costs people all get together and say something like “What meme do we push today? ‘War-Weary’, yep that’s it.” They all have PHDs from the Joseph Goebbels Academy of Journalistic Excellence.
Just like “gun violence”, etc. - it’s like ripples in a pond radiating throughout the liberal media. And the obamaBots are their echo chambers.
