"What is to be done?" James Varney asked in his recent opinion piece, referencing the unfathomable increase in New Orleans violence.
The answer, Varney suggested, may lie in more aggressive policing, more specifically, the stop-and-frisk tactic.
Not striking New York's stop-and-frisk policy completely, a federal judge ruled that the nation's largest police department employed the tactic illegally, systematically singling out large numbers of blacks and Hispanics. So the judge appointed an independent monitor to oversee major changes, including body cameras on some officers, according to the Associated Press.

With so many guns in NOLA stop and frisk could become very dangerous for the Police.
Stop and frisk is un-Constitutional. Anyone supporting this crap is a jackass.
law abiding citizens in NOLA are really screwed. Criminals AND the NOPD are both dangerous to their health. Have not forgotten Katrina and what NOPD did.
“Ham sandwiches” is a term down there cops use for ‘throwaway gun’ - stated by a NOPD cop himself.

I had no idea that the 4th Amendment was suspended in New Orleans.
This is from the same LEOs that illegally took guns away from people during the hurricane!
Seriesly needs FReepin’!
I’ll never visit the Chocolate City, so let them be stupid enough to give away their rights.
I was going to suggest they put all the violent criminals in jail.
But actually all they'd have to do is build a fence.
