The firm is just obeying the law. This begs the question of why they didn’t do it at the time of hire.

They were willing to look the other way as long as they were making money.

Lock up the owners and the illegals.

You pegged it exactly. Ditto for your solution.

However, we also need to be locking up some folks a lot higher up the ladder if you get my drift.

They are required to do the I-9 form prior to hiring. I would like to see the management taken to task for not doing it, then using it as a threat. Cops are not the enforcement arm of an employer doing something illegal.

Another trick used by employers is to get a government contract at prevailing wage, then paying their “undocumented” employees much less, pocketing the difference. The employees don’t say anything. Other honest bidders can’t compete, and there is no consequence if they get caught.

Mind you, I would not mind if everyone in that circumstance was taken to task, employers and illegal employees, but that won’t happen.

To all of you ranchers, farmers, restaurateurs, hoteliers, construction firms, trash haulers, and landscapers, thinking you're getting over on the rest of us by subsidizing your near-slave labor with our taxes: WAKE THE F**K UP.

Unionization of illegals who work, and a whole new permanent dependency class for those who don't is the end game of amnesty.

Not just voting for Dems, but millions and millions of new unionized, radicalized, and soon to be very, very expensive new "Americans" in trades and semi-skilled and low-skilled positions are what the Democrats want -- even more than they want voters. Because whether they vote or not, union labor contributes to PACs, marches in the streets, and puts pressure on the switchboards.

And all of you folks who think legalizing them will solve your problems are failing to see this. Once they're legalized, your problems have only begun...

It's Montgomery County, Maryland, which is a collar county of Washington D.C. Montgomery is an interesting place: there are a lot of very rich people, scientists and engineers, government employees at all levels, middle-income people, and a lot of poor blacks and Hispanics. The very liberal local government has declared itself to be a magnet location for illegals, which has freed nearby Virginia jurisdictions of some of the problems that come with illegal immigrants at the same time Montgomery taxpayers were burdened with their presence. It makes for a high crime rate and a very uneasy social mix.

How about a new law that says that any and all insurance policies are null and void if the insured party turns out to be in the country illegally. No refunds.

Right, more laws to cover things which are not the governments business.

How about instead the free market? The insurance companies just add into the contract, "claims made by persons who are not US Citizens, or legal residents are considered fraudulent, so will not be paid."

If I lived in that area I would drop the services of this company and use a different company. Millions of Americans are out of work, while companies like this hire illegals. It's a huge problem.

The real problem is that too many Americans are sitting at home collecting Welfare, Unemployment, Disability insurance, and other entitlements while these people are working.

Why would anyone work for $7.50 an hour when they can sit home making $11.00

I think that there are several states that don't allow illegals to receive workmans comp insurance, even though the employer has paid into it.

The unintended consequences is that the employer can get sued by the injured illegals lawyer. So the threat of a lawsuit, or the cost of defending against the lawsuit, makes the employer pay for the medical care, which means he is paying twice for the insurance.
