The end of "stop and frisk" - welcomed by so many, let's say "naive", FReepers is starting to change things.

Demanding constitutional behavior from police is not "naive." Perhaps this uptick in crime will force the sheeple of NYC to accept the fact that draconian gun laws and DA's who prosecute self defense are a hazard to safety. Perhaps it will even force them to realize that coddling and supporting a violent underclass is suicidal.

Since I don't live in that fascist toilet, I don't really care whether they figure it out or not but it was certainly crucial that "stop and frisk" be labeled unconstitutional lest it spread to decent parts of the country.

Demanding constitutional behavior from police

Again, Terry stops are quite constitutional.

The big lie attached to this whole story by the ignorant and unlettered is that the police have no authority to make Terry stops.

They absolutely do, and only in a left-libertarian's fantasyland are the police supposed to collect paychecks for waiting on thugs to rob or assault someone before they ask them their business.

There is no difference, it’s the same operation. Our media is wholly owned by the shadow government, as is Obama.

The shadow government wants a race war to give them cover as they loot and pillage what wealth is left in America, before it destroys us once and for all.

LOL we wrapped it around our shoulder and then tucked it under our arms. Basic survival for riding the subway in the 70’s and 80’s.

I bet every one of his campaign promises are being completed in the exact opposite manner most normal Americans imagined. “Let’s give the guy a chance,” I heard at work. I bet they are all crying now.

A Terry stop requires the commission or probable commission of a crime before police can “stop and frisk.” Further, they are required to have specific and articulable reasons to believe that a person may have a weapon or contraband before the search.

The appeal to the “ignorant and unlettered” is that there is no difference between a legitimate search and a fishing expedition.

To address your straw man, cops are not required to wait for an assault or robbery to occur as loitering, behaving erratically, and casing people or locations are all reasonable and articulable behaviors to stop someone and ask their business. These actions are not however reasonable suspicion that one is armed or carrying contraband. It appears in NYC that many times the threshold for a stop and frisk was based soley on a cop's opinion, and occasionally his quota. One does not have to be a libertarian to make this distinction but one does have to be a nanny-stater to ignore it.

And there you have it.

Do you really think the NYPD have so much time on their hands that they are in the habit of just randomly stopping and frisking people?

The math behind the much complained about stops doesn't support that.

I've said this before: 450,000 stops a year. That's 1,250 stops a day. There are probably over 10 million people in NYC on any given day and about 25,000 cops on shift during the course of any given day.

That's about 18 stops per cop per year, or one stop every three weeks per cop.

People seem to have it in their heads that the average NYC cop stops 100 people a day for no reason.

That math just doesn't work.
