HAWARDEN, Iowa | Police said a Hawarden, Iowa, man shot at three vacuum cleaner salesmen on Saturday. No one was hurt.
Samuel Harrison, 50, was charged with felony going armed with intent and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and misdemeanor assault and operating while intoxicated - second offense.
Harrison shot at the Omaha-area sales crew in the 4800 block of Buchanan Avenue about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.
No one on the crew was hit.
"For whatever reason, Mr. Harrison became upset about them in the area and he fired off several rounds out of his shotgun," said Sioux County sheriff Capt. Jamison Van Voorst. "Not sure what set him off."
Police did not know what company the crew sold for.
SIOUX CITY | Complaints about aggressive sales techniques by door-to-door vacuum cleaner sales representatives are getting a closer look from Sioux City police.
residents complained that a vacuum cleaner sales crew working for Cheyenne Distributing, of Cheyenne, Wyo. used overly aggressive sales tactics and wouldnt leave when asked to...

He was having a Second Hand Lions moment.
He was just taking Biden’s advice....
Fire two blasts!
This is not good, yet at the same time I understand.
Yup. Same here. I used to be annoyed by visits from such “crews” myself. Haven’t been bothered by them since I started responding to strangers on my front porch, while wearing a magnum revolver on my hip.
6 posts and nobody has said:
“Well that sucks!”
Back in the 60s I was a door to door bible salesman working in eastern Tenn.
The biggest fear was walking up on a home that was operating a still.
All I can say is that I hope this guy gets off lightly since I have no doubt that he was justified in his actions.
All door to door sales people should be shot on sight!
No, but two vacuum cleaner salesmen were killed.

No, but two vacuum cleaner salesmen were killed.”
Due to the expected number of mourners, funeral services will be held in the telephone booth on the corner where both salesmen passed on to the Great Commission Check In The Sky.
I really can’t imagine a jury would convict him.
Interesting. I haven’t seen a door to door peddler since I was a kid in the fifties here in Southern California. I thought they were part of history.
All I’ve seen along door to door lines is groups of Jehovah’s Witness with their Watch Tower paraphernalia, and the Mormon’s on their bicycles.
Yep they`uns coulda mistraken you`n fer
one of them thar danged varmite revenooers
and filled your behind with rocksalt-
Sounds like it was just a little dust-up.
Did you keep an eye out for the black mold on trees that is often found near stills?
I’ve got to say, I’ve been tempted a few times.
Deep running water is also a tip-off.
LOL. Had an unpleasant visit with one after my wife decided she might want a Kirby. I was probably far too patient with him, and was tempted to get real nasty at times, but at least no salesmen or Kirbys were hurt.
I was going to post those exact words. LOL.
Thats because the only thing worse than a door to door salesman is the Liberals that answer the doors.
salesmen travel in 3’s now??
And now the question is 3 in a row or 3 at the same time.
