Putin Didn't Save Obama, He Beat Him
The Weekly Standard ^ | Sep 10, 2013 | Lee Smith

Maybe Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin really did discuss the idea of putting Syrian chemical weapons under international control last week on the sidelines of the G20 conference. Putin sure doesn’t care that Obama’s taking credit for the proposal, or that the administration is posturing like a Mob enforcer. “The only reason why we are seeing this proposal,” said White House spokesman Jay Carney, “is because of the U.S. threat of military action.”

Right, Putin is laughing to himself. Whatever. If Obama wants to sell it like a Christmas miracle on Pennsylvania Avenue that’s fine with Putin, because Putin won.

Reset with Russia was originally a strategic priority for the Obama administration because it saw Moscow as the key to getting Iran to come to the negotiating table. Putin, from the White House’s perspective, was destined for the role of junior partner. Now Putin has turned “Reset” upside down. By helping Obama out of a jam with Syria, Putin has made himself the senior partner to whom the White House is now beholden. Accordingly, when Putin proposes the same sort of deal with Iran, with Russia having established its bona fides as an interlocutor for Syria, Obama is almost certain to jump at it.

What’s unclear is whether Obama understands that his foreign policy legacy will be to have ruined the American position in the Middle East, our patrimony of the last seven decades. If the 1979 takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran signaled weakness, the Russian deal screams surrender. The real surprise is that it’s not Iran kicking the United States out of the region under Obama’s watch, but Putin. . . .

Putin took him to the Hoop

Putin made O'Bozo eat his Cheerios with a home-made wooden spork.

Read the article. Putin is not our friend. He will exploit this for years to come. Syria never gives up it’s chemical weapons. The price of oil and gas remains elevated due to permanent uncertainty as well as Saudi dissatisfaction. And Iran continues its nuclear program unmolested.

Putin has just made an announcement

“Syrian chemical weapons exchange will ONLY work if the US rejects force”

He may be forcing Obama into a vote anyway!

Much as I relish the world now seeing how incompetent this feckless fool is, it is not good for America to be this compromised.

Masterfully played by Putin. Obama couldn’t have looked more inept if he’d tried. The freaking RUSSIAN president makes the US president look like a kid running for student council in 4th grade.

Putin played Obama like a cheap fiddle. I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama decides to drop bombs anyway just to save what little face he has left.

I predict he’ll spin this tonight as he—Obama—having “organized the international community” to avoid war.

Take a bow, fellow Americans. We’re the comic relief to serious politicians around the globe.

True but this country is like a reckless addict. With each new unbelievable calamity, you think, "surely THIS is the bottom".

However, it never is. New lows, new shames, new scares, just keep coming.

Putin Didn't Save Obama, He Beat Him

Actually it was both. Putin has every reason to want Zero to remain effective in office, because it will do more damage to America.

Don’t forget Obummer tonight will blame the Republicans.

“I could not get the Republicans to help with this thorny issue, so I had to turn to Vladimir Putin...”

it is not good for America to be this compromised.

I see this as problematic on more than just the "country-as-a-whole" front. IF this is not scripted by Obama's handlers, and Putin legitimately threw a curveball at our feckless leader, then the bigger problem will be Obama's reaction. Obama is a clinical narcissist. He is the very definition of narcissism, and I personally believe that he will take this rebuke by both Putin and the House as a personal slight. When you make a narcissist look a fool, the sociopathic tendencies will grow to a point of violence.

Obama commands a large standing army who will likely follow his commands at least until the NCOs start stepping down en masse. Unless and until that happen, I fear Obama will use military force against world powers and against the American people to silence opposition or ridicule.

I hope I'm wrong, but I see the cancer that is Obama entering stage 4 very soon, and metastasis will be violent.

“I cannot remember a time in world history where incompetence ran this high.”

Carter was pretty incompetent but at least he was an honest man regardless of his politics. The problem with Obama is that he’s an incompetent amateur, has bad policies and plays dirty politics. There’s very little that is redeeming about Obama.

The thing I never understood was why the left loved Obama as a community organizer. What did he do that was so great for his community? From what I understand he arranged some government loans for some housing projects for politicoal cronies which went into disrepair — correct me if I’m wrong with my recollection. It’s not like Obama was Mother Teresa working directly with the down trodden. Obama’s nothing but a fraud who likes being called by sycophants and handlers that he’s a great man while indulging in the perks of office.

Of course he will.

That is a small part of the price America pays for its insane obsession with political correctness.

Electing an incompetent dumbo because he has a black skin might have felt good for some when they did it, but the pain, suffering and damage it brought will linger long after Obama is just a bad memory.

All politics is local.

What good is a strong USA in the world
if we become a third-world economy through
socialism?

Defeat socialism at home and we can return
to the world stage later.

To the end of defeating socialism, this weakening
of a communist US president is a good thing.

Where did you see that announcement? I can’t find it anywhere.

And Putin knows Obimbo can not go along with it, since the official propaganda coming out of the White Hut is that the proposal was only taken seriously because of the threat of bombing.

And is this on Putin or Obama The Incompetent?

Are we now moving on from "Bush Did It!" to "Putin Did It!" ?
