rest of headline....goes on sale at Whole Foods

A radical ‘artificial egg’ backed by Paypal billionaire Peter Thiel and Bill Gates goes on sale in US supermarkets for the first time today.

Made from plants, it can replace eggs in everything from cakes to mayonnaise - without a chicken ever coming close to the production process.

The team today started selling their ‘plant egg’, called Beyond Eggs, in Whole Foods in California - and say it could soon be available in supermarkets worldwide.

‘We want to take animals out of the equation,’ said Josh Tetrick, the firm’s founder. ‘The food industry is begging for innovation, especially where animals are involved - it is a broken industry.’

Seems that every one of Gates’ “humanitarian” projects comes with a body count.

Sorry I do not want to eat fake eggs. I want my Eggs to come from a hen not a plant. Next thing we will hear ...Soylent Green is from plants. Gates can keep his Eggs - thank you.

Okay, so I can see one genuinely positive application here, and that’s that kids with egg alergies can finally eat cupcakes when their classmate has a birthday.

Talk about fixing something that ain’t broke...

If I were stranded on a desert island and could have only one thing to eat, eggs might be my first choice. They may be the most economically nutritious food one could have.

I have no qualms against Whole Foods for selling them. I love Whole Foods. They have great meat and sea food.

‘What we want to do eventually is find a way to work with farmers in the developing world to enable them to have new cash crops that can be used. Then we become the kind of company to be feared by the bad guys in the industry.’

The bad guy in the food industry is usually a bureaucrat, on the scene with a bunch of regulations, there to “help”.

Went into a Whole Foods Store yesterday. I was feeling a little down not having had breakfast or lunch, and wanted some soda to give me a little boost.

First you walk in, and it looks like you’ve just fell head first into a commune. LOL< not quite that bad, but the clientele are a rather yuppy looking bunch of seemingly neurotics about to crack.

I walked up to one of the employees and asked him where the soft drinks were. I’m thinking Coke, Seven-up, maybe an orange soda of some sort. If you’re picturing in your mind what the soda section in your super-market looks like, don’t.

It’s designer cans folks. All the little pretty soda cans have little sunbursts or some other colorful depictions instead of your typical soda graphics. Coke? Silly me. The employee explained that some can generically labeled “Cola” was what they carried. He mumbled something proudly that translated for me, “...and it doesn’t have sugar.”

I mumbled back that I was hypoglycemic and I needed some sugar, on my way out...

Freak show is about the closest way to describe it in three words or less.
