The Democratic Delusion: ‘Voter Suppression’ Resulted in Recall of Pro-Gun Control Politicians
Mediaite ^ | September 11, 2013 | Noah Rothman

Posted on 09/11/2013 1:58:38 PM PDT by NotYourAverageDhimmi

On Tuesday night, voters in two Colorado districts ousted two prominent state senators due to their support for strict state-level gun control measures. Colorado, which has been trending Democratic over the past four election cycles, has been uniquely resistant to the Republican message. For a moment, that trend in the Centennial State was halted as voters ejected state Sen. Angela Giron and state Senate President John Morse from elected office.

Pundits and political scientists often warn observers that special or recall elections are not indicative of any political trend. They are not predictive of the results of a general election or portents of a great wave favoring one party or the other. They are best analyzed based on the isolated factors that motivated the voters who turned out – in this case, gun control laws – and the universal mechanics that get candidates elected to office.

While these two races were proxy battles between the National Rifle Association and New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s anti-gun organization Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the outcomes of these races are unlikely to be especially instructive for analysts who are attempting to determine how the debate on guns will evolve ahead of the 2014 midterms.

However, what is instructive about the national mood is the reaction that these recalls inspire among national political figures and pundits. The most obnoxious and delusional reaction, presuming it is even genuine, has thus far been expressed by Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL).

“The recall elections in Colorado were defined by the vast array of obstacles that special interests threw in the way of voters for the purpose of reversing the will of the legislature and the people,” Wasserman Schultz insisted in a statement. “This was voter suppression, pure and simple.”

Except the results exactly matched the beforehand polling. I guess that was “poll suppression”. DWS is a stupid, ugly waste of space on this planet.

Supression was needed to prevent all the lib arts majors from Colorado College bringing in fake registrations (complying completely with the idiot new registration laws put in by the very same idiotcrats that voted in the gun legislation).

Morse was almost saved by the sleezy idiots.

The only thing “pure and simple” about Schultz’s statement is that she’s delusional.

If this is true, then how did the liberal PPP polling outfit get it right in a poll they conducted last weekend but never released the results from?

Is Debbie Wasserman-Schultz saying that the scientific polling method they used in these telephone polls accounted for Wasserman's alleged 'voting suppression'?

Lunacy.

Hey, let me go read all about this big win on the front page of USA Today's website!!!

Oh, it doesn't seem to be there...

I know, let me read this on the front page of CNN.com!!

Oh, I can't find it there either...

You can bet your sweet ass if these results went the other way, they would be red top banner headlines at both of these websites!!

Since it went the other way (the right way!!) you see nothing. Typical crooked MSM.

Colorado is not that “Blue” once you get outside the festering pustules of political correctness and Progressivism that are Denver, Boulder, etc...

If anything, the honest among us would have to refer to this as “hoist by their own petards” where John Morse and Angela Giron are concerned...The new law was conveniently timely for the two...

This new elections law referred to in the John Caldara “political stunt man” dustup was originally written to take effect in 2014 but was changed to kick in immediately upon the governor’s signature.

It allows anyone who can show 22 days residence (power or cable tv bill for example) and states an “intention” to make a particular district their place of residence the opportunity to obtain a ballot on election day and vote in that district without prior registration...Caldara simply illustrated the idiocy of this law and “voted” a blank ballot to make the point...

Gov. John Hickenlooper signed the bill in May, two months after recall efforts were launched against Mr. Morse and Ms. Giron.

This change was spearheaded by Morse and Giron (for purposes presumably of taking advantage of the numerous (likely Dem-O-Rat) “gypsy voters” in their districts and adjacent (Denver and Boulder principally)...

If this was indeed their intended purpose for rushing thru this terrible bill, it may have instead helped cost ‘em their seats, and obviously did not have the intended effect...

Colorado is better off now they are both out of office...But we have more work to do; the list of Rats who need to look for other employment is long indeed...

And the guys and gals who led these recalls are now my new heroes...

Throw "ugly" in there and you may be correct. She still has Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson and Queen Sheila Jackson Lee to beat, to take the stupid baton to the finish line.

What do you mean? All elections are run at the local level, then the results are rolled up. In most places elections are at the county level, in some places the city level. There is no "giant aparatus". What are you talking about? I don't get it.
