Are terrorists setting U.S. wildfires? Ex-NSA official: Al-Qaida ignited California blazes
wnd ^ | 9/11/13 | Joe Kovacs

As the 2013 season of devastating wildfires continues to rage across the American West, the question of arson as a form of major terrorism is again being raised.

Already this year, 35,440 reported fires have burned a total of 3.9 million acres, with a quarter-million acres scorched the iconic Yosemite National Park.

Large blazes continue to burn in several states, with six alive in Idaho, five each in California and Montana, and one each in Alaska, Louisiana, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

The National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho, says at this time last year, 45,278 fires had burned 7.9 million acres, and in 2011, there were 55,619 fires devastating 7.2 million acres.

In July 2012, William Scott, a former National Security Agency official and Aviation Week editor, told the American Center for Democracy that terrorists are using fire as a tactical weapon of war.

“Perhaps the most simple form of economic warfare is wild land arson,” Scott said in his “Fire Wars” presentation. “That’s just setting fires in U.S. forests [and] grasslands.”

I’m still searching for their earlier threats to set off such blazes.

Sometimes it is arson, but I see no widely connected pattern outside of Libs not letting people clear dead wood.

Terror Group Urges Forest Fire Jihad

The threat of a forest fire jihad has been made on numerous occasions. This story is again another reminder to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity.

Australia has been singled out as a target for “forest jihad” by a group of Islamic extremists urging Muslims to deliberately light bushfires as a weapon of terror.

US intelligence channels earlier this year identified a website calling on Muslims in Australia, the US, Europe and Russia to “start forest fires”, claiming “scholars have justified chopping down and burning the infidels’ forests when they do the same to our lands”.

The website, posted by a group called the Al-Ikhlas Islamic Network, argues in Arabic that lighting fires is an effective form of terrorism justified in Islamic law under the “eye for an eye” doctrine.

The posting — which instructs jihadis to remember “forest jihad” in summer months — says fires cause economic damage and pollution, tie up security agencies and can take months to extinguish so that “this terror will haunt them for an extended period of time”.

“Libs not letting people clear dead wood.”

would....demonstrate a reason for such HUGE fires not necessarily the location or frequency of such fires

jihadists took credit for the fires in arizona and have consistently been making noise about a forest jihad.

Location Location Location....

Yellowstones a GONER...and Yosemite well its not over yet,

With the vast surveillance and storage capacity of the NSA..not to mention NASA.....I would THINK that arson could be surveilled from the air by satellite by this point.

Given the location of two massive fires...One being Yellowstone...a.rather well known heavily trafficed tourist attraction...and near Yosemite..same same...I wouldnt doubt that these fires were arson

Yellowstone recovered.
I was there like 10 years ago.

The old dead charred remains where still there, thanks to libs that said we could not even harvest the downed burned wood.

If there has been another fire, I am unaware of it and all that old tinder would have blazed it up.

I had a family member that lived in Prescott.
The entire forest became tinder due to bark beetles.

He could not even clear the dead trees on his own land to create a firebreak due to ecoterrorists.

He said **** em and took the fine.

I’ve been a regular listener to Dr. Bill Wattenburg’s fine radio program....first locally here in the SF Bay Area and more recently nationally for decades. He’s out more of the see-airhead-club’s insane demands of the forest service than I care to remember.

The Yosemite fire isnt over YET but.had the forests been MANAGED....it would be.

I know that If I were a terrorist I would go after High Profile forests like those in Yellowstone ..and Yosemite

Because it is ineffectual if local government is on the matter?

These forest fire problems are the result of piss poor forest management, and very few people die, it is just a lot of property damage.

It is not a Jihadi plot.

Never been to Yosemite, but I did live in Ca for a decade.

Fires are seasonal there.

ELF (Earth Liberation Front) is a common perp in fires like this. FBI has been chasing them for 10+ years.

Eco Terrorists. Extreme Left nut cases. Totally wacko.

We had some attempted setting of fields afire several years ago.

Someone drove down the road and set several as they traveled. We managed to put them out before major damage was done, but never caught them.

Her is what Sierra clubbers do.

They shut down public land to dirt bikers/shooters and campers AFTER they have a place that they are concerned about and own that uses public spaces.

Then they get a law passed to shut down all the dirtbikers/shooters and campers siting noise and fires in court.

Then the court shuts down public access and the Sierra clubbers file another suit that says “Hey! you can’t stop ME from using this public land for egress and regress to MY land”

They demonize us shut us out and effectively gain 5,000 acres of land that they do not have to pay tax on.

Yeah, I know who the Jihadis are.
