Vladimir Putin's comments on American exceptionalism, Syria cause a fuss

(CNN) -- If Vladimir Putin wanted to get Americans' attention, he seems to have done a pretty good job.

The Russian president's op-ed article arguing against military intervention in Syria, published on The New York Times' website late Wednesday, set off a flurry of reactions -- some outraged, some impressed, and some just plain bemused.

Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez said the piece made him almost want to throw up.

Putin said he had written the opinion piece "to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders."

Putin makes his case in op-ed

Vladimir Putin's call for peace But he appeared to have raised some peoples' hackles with the last paragraph in which he disputed the idea of American exceptionalism.

It was a reference to President Barack Obama's address Tuesday night, in which he said that while America can't be a global cop, it ought to act when in certain situations.

"That's what makes us exceptional," Obama said. "With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth."

Putin's answer to that?

"It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation," he wrote.

He concluded with the line, "We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord's blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal."

Remember his squashing of Russia's free press and that he has essentially established one man rule in Russia.

My heart bleeds for the "free press" that was so aligned and in step with the ever so truthful and honest American MSM "free press" and did an equally bang up job.

It's sure a good thing we don't have one man rule here in America, and that we all have equal protection under the law.

Nor should you forget the various poisonings and nefarious disappearances of leading opponents.

Yeah, I can remember them so I can forget about the deaths and ruined lives of Americans whose only offense was to oppose the Socialist left in America.

I was thinking the same thing. I know boatloads of Russian Orthodox Christians.

Hey, Texas Eagle --- Russia seems to be quite the world Christian leader these days. Check out this recent article from Pravda's English-language online edition, especially the final 2 paragrahs, which will knock your ever-lovin' socks off:

Russia is indeed a religious country and restored Orthodox churches are springing up like mushrooms after a spring rain.

Russia also has its own exceptionalism: Moscow was for centuries known as the “Third Rome” of Christianity.

There is a brand new Russian Orthodox church in my medium sized town in South Carolina. I am very glad for that given the mosque just down our street.

my oh my...bitter much?

Putin's an autocrat, and although obama would surley like to be one; still he ain't.

And just because the msm only peroiodically acts as a watchdog doesn't mean they are prevented from doing so.

In russia they are prevented from doing so.

Who's death came from opposing the left in this country, I must of missed it.
