I just really don’t do holidays anymore. We have a huge open house on Christmas Eve for friends and family, food & drinks, and we have 3 grandchildren that we give gift cards to.
That’s it. It is stress free and everyone has a great time Christmas Eve.

Sounds like a nice, stress less day. Stressing on the holiday - I try to plan ahead-like getting Christmas cards ready by Thanksgiving but I don't mail them until first week of December. I don't have to find everyone's addresses or updates to addresses, etc. because doing that drives me crazy.

GREED ! Or desperation.
Due to the Obama depression, I've had to start my own business, to find any kind of employment. I have an on-line business. One thing that I've learned is that Black Friday really is get-in-the-black Friday. You just break even for most of the year. Christmas literally is, do or die.
So I'm much more sympathetic to retailers than I used to be. There's no excuse for the "Happy Season" crap, though.

I was in Sam’s Club the other day, and they had Christmas ornaments and wreaths for sale.

Has anyone ever left a Kmart and thought “I can’t wait to go back”?
