cripplecreek, I think I understand your point but in truth it isn’t us doing the blathering but rather it is the non-exceptionalists like Øbongo. Putin is just building off of a theme that Øbongo started.
I can still remember Reagan’s “A Shining City on a Hill” speech. His unflappable optimism taught us that no matter how grim the immediacy of the moment may seem, those who could maintain the vision of our Founders and their extraordinary experiment in self-governance could overcome any obstacle, any hurdle, any hardship.
Under the deconstructionist Øbongo this nation is losing that - is forgetting the pledge of “Our Lives, Our Fortune, Our Sacred Honor”.
We can survive Øbongo. I’m not so sure we can survive our own loss of self-confidence.
Anyone who thinks that Obama cost us our exceptionalism is a fool. Obama is a result, not a cause. Our exceptionalism is long gone and won’t return till we face that fact.
Most conservatives don’t even have the courage to utter the name Grover Norquist while they puff out their chests and talk about fighting muslims. That’s not remotely exceptional, that’s being for sale to the highest bidder.
