Security Breach at Minnesota's New Health Insurance Exchange
valleynewslive.com ^ | Sep 13, 2013 8:17 AM EDT

An employee for Minnesota's new online health insurance exchange accidentally released confidential information on hundreds of insurance agents.

MNsure officials say the employee sent an email to an Apple Valley insurance broker's office Thursday that contained Social Security numbers, addresses and other private information of more than 2,400 insurance agents.

An MNsure security manager called the insurance broker, Jim Koester, and had him delete the file from his computer hard drive. Koester tells the Star Tribune the incident raises questions about the security of MNsure client information.

Users of the exchange will need to provide confidential information to a federal hub where eligibility for public health programs or tax credits will be reviewed.

MNsure plans to notify the insurance agents whose confidential information was released.

Even the most extreme security measures are unable to overcome the stupidity of users.

Looked all over for this in news at 610 am this morning when I heard it on evil talk radio...nothing found.

Gee. What a surprise.

Just the start of the “train wreck” of Obamacare, as described by Democrat Senator Max Baucus. More coming.

That’s why you try to reduce the number of stupid hands really critical information goes through. Which is the exact opposite of what Obamacare does.

The underlying systems in Obamacare are struggling with unfathomable complexity. The problem is, complex systems cannot be built from scratch. They NEVER work this way. (Refer to The Systems Bible by John Gall.)

It takes decades of incremental and modular growth to build functioning systems, but even then they become a maintenance nightmare.

Even upgrading existing complex systems is a daunting challenge. The IRS has made several attempts to modernize its systems that were spectacular failures. And this was just a matter of converting existing complex systems to use more modern code.

Aside from the issues of security vulnerabilites, which will be endless, this is going to be the mother of all train wrecks.

Whoa, there’s a surprise. Couldn’t see that coming. This was all going to operate flawlessly and guard our privacy. I’m just so, so, so amazed that a gigantic government program put together under great pressure in a few months by people who have no direct hands-on experience with medical delivery systems is malfunctioning. /s

By the way, boys and girls, do you realize that the electronic medical record and prescription software your doctor probably has in place is already hooked up to the federal database? And that the program will tell anyone in the doctor’s office what prescriptions you have ever had filled in the US?

electronic medical records, health care exchanges what a disaster .....all I want is for one of these hacker groups to make themselves actually useful and tap into the personal electronic medical records of every politician, celebrity, newsperson, etc. that supported this monstrosity and smear that information all over the internet for the world to see

I feel so much more secure knowing that Barrackus Obamus and his sock-puppet Kathleen Sebaceous are going to be in charge of my medical records!

I just can’t tell you how pleased I am at that.

Good news. I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing more of it. These guys, the government enforcers and administrators of healthcare, are the real domestic enemy.

This whole “privacy” thing is such an outdated notion.

It's outdated for commoners, ElkGroveDan, but still in full force for the neo-aristocrats. That distinction will grow easier to bear in mind at all times as we continue to progress "Forward!" in the fundamental transformation of America, (aka the Chicagoization and Detroitification of America.)

Wellllllll Lookie here. It’s true according to the medical records. Senator Al Franken does have Herpies he contracted from performing oral sex on a Monkey.

Page 3 at the bottom also notes the scars on his rectum from an emergency Room Call where they pulled out a dead, frozen gerbil.
