Money needed now to fight climate change
Deutsche Welle ^ | September 13, 2013 | By Jens Thurau

Coping with climate change is already an expensive proposition, but waiting to implement protection measures will end up costing countries even more, according to a new study out of Germany.

Ottmar Edenhofer has spent years warning people about the consequences of climate change as a member of the Intergovernment Panel on Climate Change. But few countries have listened so far and his audience is getting smaller and smaller.

Edenhofer wants to stick to the two degree goal with a set of steps some observers have called a pipedream. He has called for a global carbon dioxide trading system with prices between 20 euros and 50 euros ($26.50 to $66.35) per ton of CO2. He said use of fossil fuels will only decrease when it becomes more expensive than other energy sources. A regional market along the lines of Edenhofer's suggestion already exists in Europe; prices for a ton of carbon dioxide emissions currently cost about 3 euros.

Edenhofer said he believes countries will create a global CO2 market soon. "Even nations that do little for climate protection want a higher CO2 price because they need money for education," he said. "After the financial crisis, countries are short on funds and a new environment tax is in high demand."

Hmmm. Maybe Ottmar needs to spiff up his "Gimme, gimme, gimme!" Powerless Pointless presentation.

he admits that he also thinks politicians lack the will to solve climate problems.

Politicians also lack any will to solve the problem of runaway government spending and national bankruptcy. Politicians should stick to the things they can change and have the humility to admit the things they can't.

They are already doing it to entire countries http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/high-costs-and-errors-of-german-transition-to-renewable-energy-a-920288-3.html

But the situation suddenly changed on June 30, when E.on received a letter from the grid operator associated with the plant, Tennet, and the regulatory agency. The unit, the letter read, was needed to maintain grid stability, and E.on was to reestablish the coal plant's operational readiness without delay. This is one of the most curious developments in the story of German energy reform. The country's most heavily polluting plants are now also its most profitable: old and irrelevant brown coal power stations. Many of the plants are now running at full capacity.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls our climates.

3. The earth is a rock.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

I’ve really wondered how Europe managed to go from the beacon of civilization to the center of stupidity in the span of 100 years. I suspect that the best and brightest that didn’t get wiped out in World War I were taken care of in World War II; we are now dealing with the progeny of what was left over.

We are indeed south of there but about 100 miles farther in Mount Carmel on Highway 89. We call those clouds Maynard Dixon clouds as we own his property here.

LMBO!!
The scumbags aren't even bothering to hide anymore what their "global warming" scam has been about from the beginning!
It's all about big government confiscating more money from working taxpayers. That's all it has ever been about.
