TheZMan ~
Never heard of tootsie rolls though Lazamataz ~ They are a small, chewy confectionery that is usually flavored chocolate, and comes in a small paper wrapper.
TheZMan ~ Yes, yes, I meant as a bait.
On FR one is never sure. We have one who claims to have never eaten a Twinkie...

This is ridiculous. With modern pest control and decent behavior from the occupants, there should be ZERO roaches, mice and RATs no matter how old the house is.
The problem is the trash that we have living in that house has turned it into a ghetto.

It’s government housing but it’s certainly not LOW COST government housing.

It is also under the control of the White Houses trashy occupants. Just this second I heard my wife get onto one of my kids for having an apple in the back room. “We don’t eat in the bed rooms.”
The house is over a hundred years old and is an old farm house. We rarely have roaches (come in when the door has been left open) nor mice and rats. (initially had a squirrel and rat problem, but plugged up all outside cracks and holes and cut trees back)
We get ant invasions when they are looking for water or they find something sweet in the kitchen cabinet.

In the inconceivable event that there isn’t one near by, you can make the home version.
Grind charcoal briquets, make your beverage with them instead of coffee grounds (or no less than a 50% mixture of briquets and cheap ground coffee).
Mix with large amounts of flavored syrup and cream, cover with a layer of foamy scum, scratch some fancy pattern in the scum.
Enjoy.

I worked at an 80 something yr old country club for 10 years. The whole bottom of the old structure was one big drive in basement with rooms for storage. Before I would go down there I would flip the lights on and bang on the wall a few times to clear out the rats. Used to scare the peewaddle out of me. Lol

Maybe I’m getting old......many years ago, when Hostess still used quality organic ingredients, Twinkies were reasonable snack cakes.
I would also sometimes stop at Starbucks for a hot chocolate latte and a scone. I stopped going to Starbucks even for that 10 or 12 years ago, when the quality declined.
I haven’t even found a good scone since I left Palo Alto, CA, and the high-end coffee joints there in 2000.

None was more frustrated than Jimmy Carter, who battled mice from the start of his administration. To his dismay, he found the bureaucracy unresponsive. GSA, responsible for inside the White House, insisted it had eliminated all "inside" mice and contended any new mice must have come from the outside, meaning, the New York Times reported at the time, they were "the responsibility of the Interior Department." But Interior, wrote the Times, "demurred" because the mice were now inside the White House. ...and this same government is going to "fix" healthcare.
