In Russia, politics and nationalist pride are the basis of Putin’s anti-American turn

MOSCOW — First, Vladimir Putin accused Hillary Rodham Clinton of inciting protests against him at the end of 2011.

The next fall, the Russian president threw the U.S. Agency for International Development out of his country. Then he decided civic groups that get U.S. financing must be foreign agents.

By the end of last year, Putin decided Americans had become unfit to adopt Russian children. This summer he decided to harbor Edward Snowden, the National Security Agency document leaker, despite strenuous U.S. objections.

And ever since the Syrian conflict began, Putin has thwarted President Obama’s attempts to get the United Nations to intervene.

Saturday, Russian and U.S. officials agreed on a plan to remove and destroy Syria’s chemical weapons, but Putin still shows no interest in dropping his support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad despite U.S. assertions that he is destroying his country.

Surely this describes a powerful Russian leader who enjoys nothing more than finding any opportunity he can to land a nasty sucker punch to Obama.

Putin is protecting his country’s interests in its near-abroad which includes Syria, and doing a good job at it, while the US is unable to protect our interests in Libya and Egypt, and everywhere else during these times. “What difference does it make” say our privileged ruling elites, and it is being heard over there and translated into Arabic, Russian and Chinese, so stop complaining, it is no longer the anti-Americanism of the Soviet Union and Red China. Putin’s alleged anti-Americansm, cannot ever match the actual anti-Americanism of the pair in the White Hut (or is it a trio, including Valerie?!)

your photo of the cathedral is best of the hundreds I've looked at - I 'stolen' it as a photo - wich I could get it on a link!

BTW, have you seen the old photo of the Communists's actually destruction of the original cathedral? To destroy such a building! Pure evil.

To think they totally rebuilt it!

So was St. Paul at one point in his life...

(thug)

Good analogy. Paul hunted, peresecuted and slaughtered Christians for 10 years - ordered the stoning of Steven -

Putin was born and raised in Communist Russia - his father was a Communist his mother, who had him baptised in secret, was not.

Putin would have been a street sweeper or some such, had he not been a party member... H

He's carried a cross with him all his life - Who's to say, now that Communism has fallen - and he had gotten himself in a position power - that he's now doing what he's doing, not in pretense, but in finally being able to help Russia into freedom?

I don't know the answer.

But there's more evidence that he's a leader that loves his country than we have in our leader.

The largest mosque in Europe was built in Russia under Putin’s regime. Putin appointed the son of the Chechen mufti as dictator of Chechnya and he is instituting sharia law in Russia with Putin’s blessing. Putin sent the Chechens to slaughter Orthodox Christians in Georgia. You don’t want to face these truths.

It’s so nice that Putin like the Chechen muslims so much that he’s given them billions of dollars of the Russian people’s money and let them build the biggest mosque in Europe on Russian soil and encourage polygamy, and force Russian citizens to wear headscarves. Isn’t it awesome that he sent the Chechen jihadists to slaughter Orthodox Christians in Georgia and sent them to Lebanon as “peacekeepers” to defend Hizballah from Israel? Doesn’t it prove what a great Christian he is?

If this was describing Obama, it would read:

In the USA, politics and nationalist pride are not the basis of Obama’s anti-American turn

Putin would have been a street sweeper or some such, had he not been a party member...

There is no Russian Putin's age, born and raised before the fall of Soviet Communism, that could have risen to the office of President or Prime Minister, without being a member of the Communist party, service in some Soviet alphabet agency and authoritarian methods. Such were the times and the nature of Communism in Russia.

Putin's legacy will be what direction he takes Russia, and the changes in Russian society and life AFTER his rise to positions of power, and that could reasonably interpreted as his intent.

Assuming Putin isn't subjected to the false leftist progressive cult religion of revisionist history, we will have the answer then.

I wish we had a leader that was as Pro-American as Putin is Pro-Russian.

Imagine you are an American dissident, facing prison and thinking of fleeing overseas. Feel better that there is a mosque down the street? Obama is no better than Putin and at least Putin is trying to protect his nation.

Washington Post has ignored certain facts and twisted others.
For instance , Putin stopped adoptions not just because he thought and KNEW there were unfit parents here but the Russian ids were going to homosexuals as pawns in their agenda and that he was fed up of seeing a declining Russian population and seeing Russian kids being taken from their motherland.

Also what right do we have to demand that their country gives away their kids to us?

Yes , Homosexuals were getting Russian children by lying who they were and then using these kids as pawns once back in America.
There were many instances of Americans being dead beat parents to these children to .

Washington Post is in mode n cover for their messiah again.
