CNN anchor Don Lemon has, of late, turned the focus of his frequent conversations on race to the idea of personal responsibility in the African American community. On Saturday night’s edition of CNN Newsroom, Lemon continued that controversial trend with comic legend Bill Cosby, who has also felt the heat of controversy on the subject. Cosby talked to Lemon about young black men raising their kids, over-medication of juvenile inmates, and may have even coined a new word: “No-groes.”
For the past few months, Don Lemon has courted controversy with several segments pegged to his general agreement with comments by Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly, aimed at solving problems within the black community. Legendary comic actor Bill Cosby has also stirred controversy by airing grievances against his community, but neither Lemon nor Cosby have backed away from their criticisms. In Saturday night’s interview, Lemon asked Cosby to reflect on the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, and what kind of African American leaders are needed now.
“I think it has to come from the universities,” Mr. Cosby began. ” I think, women, strongly because when you see 70%, in research, that says they are the leaders of the household, what we need is for people to realize I want to raise my kid. I want to go back and get my three kids. I want to take on that responsibility. I want to love my children.”
He added that one of the sights he’d like to see more of is what he saw at the recent Essence Festival, “walking around to see, yeah, to see a black male with his child on the shoulders and holding.”
He also encouraged young people who might not be able to go to a prestigious college to go to community college.

Blacks must solve the problems in the black community—no Organizer, race hussler, celebrity, or government program can do this thing. It must come from within.
This is the world we live in: “personal responsibility in the African American community” is considered controversial to discuss.
God help us.
Name one successful country in the world that has a black leader.
Or, for that matter, any successful city that has had a sccession of black mayors.
For envy to develop, they have to try to succeed and fail multiple times. They do try to emulate the successful but it usually doesn't work. They then come to the conclusion they can't compete fair and square in the white man's world and they check out.
There's no appeasing the envious. When you give them hand outs, they resent it because it's proof you are better than them. They are drawn to communism to break the playing field, and modern civilization, into piles of rubble, but even then their envy will not be gone because the white people will still be envied for having once been richer than them and probably will soon be again. Even if a rich man gave an envious man a check so that both their bank accounts are equal, they will envy him for being a better man. Helping the envious is proof they are inferior.
A heavy dose of humility can treat the envious. A sound non-envious religion can help. Actions to artificially boost their self-esteem only make the envy problem worse.
Ghetto blacks can't compete with suburban whites in employment however they are smarter and more capable than most any other animal. If they had their own playing field, half of them would succeed, which is much more than do now. They've already organized themselves into big city reservations. Put up a border around the cities and have import taxes and they can pursue happiness on their own terms.
You can't help the envious like Bill Cosby is trying to do. They have to help themselves or it's a no-gro.
Sadly, too true. The government has destroyed the Black family unit and replaced it with a government check. Unfortunately, this works from a purely political perspective, making and entire class reliant on the government. It will, in short order, collapse the entire society. I'm not sure the problem can be rectified, or if it simply has to play out to the point of total collapse. Historically, total collapse has been the norm.

Multiculturalism has not only made it a sin to criticize the dysfunctional black subculture. Furthermore since such cultures are diametrically opposed to the hated traditional American culture they are celebrated by the left. After all the long stated goal of the leftists is the “dismantling” of American culture.
OTOH, ranting and raving about how “wealth” should be redistributed and “affirmative action” and race-norming should be redistributing even more jobs and educational opportunities are also up their alleys.

The truth is that these are the real black leaders. They recognize the desperate situation black America finds itself in today, and are begging and pleading for cultural reform so it does not exterminate itself with cultural suicide.
The most important reform black America needs is straightforward: “No sex outside of marriage.”
This must come first, because the response to the second reform, “No children outside of marriage”, is *not* mitigated by long term birth control and abortion. Those just make the situation far worse. So black Americans must accept “No sex outside of marriage” as their cardinal rule.
Only then does the third reform matter. That “education is the key to success.” Not sports. Not music. But book learning- to take every possible advantage of education.
Finally, the fourth reform: that honor and dignity come from education and hard work, and these are the opposite of criminal behavior. An honorable black person should never associate with a criminal black person.
There's been rumors that he has some type of debilitating illness. He's clearly not the articulate man he was in the 80s.
Very true. And blended families are now celebrated as something wonderful to strive for.
Also, young white kids are now speaking improper, black speak pretty regularly out in suburbia.

Charge the domestic-savages with child abuse, no work...no benefits.
Take the kids away and have them raised in Japanese-household fosterhomes, where the parents will insist they excel in school, and be polite.
Have them go to college on their scholarships, and don't let them see the ghetto until they're young adults.
I went out to eat last night and saw this up close and personal. One woman and three kids, including one just months old. Chances are he could have been working bc it wasn’t fast food, right? I wonder.

I listened to this interview and had a different take.
What I heard Cosby say, in effect, is that black juveniles who are properly diagnosed and treated in detention for such conditions as ADHD and bipolar disorder, have little or no follow-up psychiatric care and medication on release back into the community. The results are predictable and tragic. Their minds go from being organized to chaotic without their meds.
I agree with this, as the father of a son with “real” ADHD...the kind of ADHD that responds to stimulants by calming down. Calming down permits productive academic work or any kind of learning needed for any trade or work.
Yes, it’s sad. I have the same reaction when I see the rare family with all the elements.
