California poised to become first state to impose full ban on lead bullets

California is on the verge of becoming the first state to impose a full ban on hunting with lead bullets -- with environmentalists and gun-rights advocates squaring off as Gov. Jerry Brown decides whether to sign the legislation.

The state already has a ban on lead-bullet hunting in eight counties with an endangered condor population. But the new proposal, overwhelmingly approved this month by the Democrat-controlled General Assembly, would impose a statewide ban on all hunting.

so we can still shoot them at ranges, and in non-hunting situations?

So there is no naturally occurring lead? Using lead bullets introduces something that came from another planet? Or was totally man made?

Imbeciles.

I bet that more condors and other endangered birds are chopped up in California wind farms than ever died as a result of lead poisoning from bullets.

Practice with lead, hunt with lead-free.

Many other bullet types are ALREADY prohibited by the Fed.gov. So, this may be a backdoor way to disarm the Californians.

Come on Americans, get your recall petitions ready, defy the liberal socialist who believe anyone who stand up for liberty and less government control are wacko tea party conservatives who will start a civil war by 2016!

Won’t be the first time a sitting California governor was successfully recalled by the citizens of California!

Yes we can!!!

0’s workaround ban to render firearms useless once again. The guy dorsnt give up. If he can’t do it he uses his fellow liberal cronies. I guess trying to buy all the ammo didn’t work so now he’s going to try and ban lead. I wish they’d ban the metal used to forge his Ping clubs so we could watch him have a meltdown as his very own tactics are used against him.

Of course, the government will exempt itself and the “Only ones”. But all you Californicators can kiss hunting good-bye.

Yes, but those are killed in an ecologically acceptable manner. Just like average citizen riding dirt bikes, quads and dune buggies in the desert is bad, but solar power installations permanently destroying hundreds of acres of the desert ecosystem is good.

Will the bad guys quit using lead bullets when they kill people?

Are there any statistics regarding the Endangered Eagles regarding the numbers killed by LEAD bullets (horrors) versus the numbers chopped by environmentally pure slashing windmill blades?
It appears that it is perfectly OK and permitted to kill as many endangered birds as you want, providing the method of killing is deemed “environmentally friendly”.
While I’m at it, I haven’t heard of much concern regarding endangered birds from PETA and its followers. Hmmmm.

“Many other bullet types are ALREADY prohibited by the Fed.gov. So, this may be a backdoor way to disarm the Californians.”

During the Clinton years, they were sending soldiers into action who had only fired plastic bullets in practice. The ballistics are entirely different. I worked for a contractor with Army contracts. Soldiers told me that during Clinton’s years the bought their own .223 rounds to use while standing guard as there were none left to issue them. I can’t confirm that, but I was at GD when Bush won and he had his staff call GD’s president and ask him to go to around the clock shifts making powder, as there was none left in the inventory. They said they’d talk price when they took office on the 20th. They did and GD was VERY happy.

From the article:
“There is no safe level of lead for human consumption,” said bill sponsor and state Assemblyman Anthony Rendon, a Los Angeles-area Democrat.

A typical Democrap example of deliberate deception. Even dioxin had a maximum exposure level.

This Clownifornia elected nutter wants you to believe lead is more dangerous than dioxin.

His constituents agree with him.

Well come onnn, if you shoot a deer with a lead bullet the deer could die because lead is poison.

the California Dept Fish and Game will soon be history if lead ammo is outlawed thus essentially outlawing hunting. There will be a RECALL of ALL ANTI SECOND AMENDMENT STATE LEGISLATURES WHO SUPPORTED THIS FLURRY OF ANTI GUN LAWS & there will be a ballot initiative to RECEND ALL ANTI SECOND AMENDMENT LAWS in Kalifornia!

1. The Condor’s range is exactly that of the lead mining in California. The tailings from the lead mines go back 100 or 150 years and are extensive.

2. The California department of Natural Resources or the equivalent will tell you that 99.999% of any lead poisoning in the Condors is due to residual lead oxide from leaded gas which is still in the environment.

3. The number of ammunition related deaths of the Condors is apparently 0.

“Will the bad guys quit using lead bullets when they kill people?”

The bad guys are not the Lone Ranger and they won’t be using silver bullets, either.
;-)
They WILL be taking all our silver (and gold, too) at every opportunity.
:-(
