AUSTIN, Texas – In a ceremony at the Texas State Capitol, Gov. Rick Perry signed Senate Bill 162, which was passed by the 83rd Texas Legislature to address employment challenges facing military service members, recently separated veterans and their spouses.

The bipartisan legislation requires state agencies that issue occupational licenses to recognize substantially equivalent licenses issued by other jurisdictions – including the armed forces – and provide an expedited licensure process for these individuals.

I really like Rick Perry. It’s a damn shame he tripped all over his bait and tackle in 2013.

“What does this mean for older veterans?”

I didn't see an age limit in that article.

This bill, now law, will help our vets get certification and jobs and we won't be taking guns from vets like Hussein and Homeland Security want to do.

We welcome all vets to the state of Texas. Get out of states that think vets may be dangerous survivalists and become domestic terrorists. We preppers have that same rope around our neck - Homeland Security thinks we may be domestic terrorists. What garbage.

Were you in Vietnam? I just found out that any veteran that was in Vietnam during the war can clam benefits for being exposed to it! It is a new law just passed in the last year or so! You don’t have to prove you were exposed - just that you were in Vietnam between 1-9-1962 and 5-7- 1975. More info if any one needs it.

Good. State licensure is become the modern equivalent of the Medieval guild system. It is fast becoming more of a liability than a benefit, if it isn’t already.

It may count. There are some Korean war vets who are eligible. I don’t know all the details of that. Kind of complicated. I have a good friend who was in the Mississippi Air Guard who was on a TDA to Alaska and was waiting on a flight back to the 48 and was asked to help unload some 55 gal. drums from an aircraft. He says they were labeled Agent Orange. And he is getting these benefits. Never set a foot in Vietnam.

I told my wife that I thought he was scamming the system and that I was not going to do that. Just found out that anyone who served in Vietnam during the years I indicated above is deserved these benefits! Anyone!

Ok RD tells me that you should not click on words that are highlighted in my reply to you. So I do not know what I am doing! LOL

Hi Luv W, I am Mrs Red Devil 232 :-) I can give you the information I have learned so for. Go to WWW.VA.GOV. Start with new to VA. This will give you a listing of qualifications. Before any benefits no matter what it may be, a VA applicaton must be sent in and approved. To see the benefits that would be allotted you, you can look under the qualifications such as “Vietnam Veteran” and it will give a whole list of benefits and diseases that may be covered because you are a Vet. More benefits have been released for Vietnam Veterans and their family that has never been given. The more research I do the more I have found that they have released.

Getting very crowded with Mexicans and Californians- who, by the way, are fast earning a reputation of being ridiculously aggressive and dangerous drivers, disturbing peace, not that the natives are exemplary.

Come on, if you want to appreciate Texas and not try to change it.

Of course, I tell them all the time how to do it better, the way we do it in New York, ‘cause they love that kind of thing - :).

Sometimes it feels to me like a different planet, it’s so different from where I grew up, but it’s Texas. And if it weren’t here, now, with all this going on, or if it were a blue state, which they’ll try to get it to be (some of the worst liberal academic episodes/atrocities in k-12, illegal immigration ooc, Julian Castro, mayor of San Antonio, liberal rap sheet a mile long), the whole country would have less reason to hope.

Come along.

But, you know, don’t mess.

He also has a bad back and was on Meds during the campaign, in a bad way.
If you watch the debates you can see in his breathing the pain he was experiencing,
and most likely from being on his feet for longer than he should've been.

That’s what I’m thinking...

All I know is I looked at a radar scope for wayyyyyy too long...

Used to run aircraft together at high rates of closure (at +mach rates)...That was hard to do, stressful...

Keeping them apart was a breeze IMO...I could do that, all day, with one arm tied behind my back...

One has to wonder why I didn’t get a waiver on the screening test to get a ride to Oklahoma for the ATC school...

Actually, he was recovering from, and on pain meds for, back surgery.

I wouldn’t wish a campaign debate on anyone in that condition.

He appeared to be silly and forgetful, and he should have suspended his campaign until he was compos
mentis again, but someone must have advised him that time was of the essence.

Whoever did that sabotaged our best hope for a Conservative presidential candidate.

Unfortunately, we ended up with the latest GOP designated loser so that the left could maintain power.

Gut the stinkin’ GOP. They’re the Grand Old Party NO MORE.

That is the plain truth, and to this day I haven't gotten over it. It still makes me sick to imagine how different this country would be with a President Perry.

False premise.

We had the ones on the stage and that was it. That was not my fault but it was my choice. You picked Obama. Thanks.

As to the car parable, if you go to the car rental store and they have two cars left, one a Ford and one a Kia it makes your question pretty stupid.

Now please proceed with the requested list.

Look here amnesty warrior, La Raza Rick, and your other Amnesty buddy Romney were not the only candidates in the Republican Primary.

You have made it clear that you are so enamored of open borders that you could not even type the name of one of the other Republican candidates.

No, I did not have to vote for either of those, or for Obama.

Perry is and always has been exactly the same as Rubio on securing the boerder and stopping the bleeding cash cost of illegals recieving benefits. They are carbon copy clones. They say one thing addressing citizens and quite another addressing the La Raza crowd which they spend a fair amount of time courting. When push comes to shove, it is illegals they support in policy decisions.

None of the others on the stage except maybe Michele Bachmann were better on illegal alien criminal scum than Perry. Romney wasn’t and your boy Obama wasn’t.

That’s all you’ve got and we still have the problem so people like you accomplished what?

Finally, when it comes to guns Perry was better than ALL OF THEM but that isn’t a good liberal issue is it so you don’t care. Romney had his own gun ban and Obama is working as fast as he can illegally to ban them.

Perry while jogging had a coyote attack his dog. He shot and killed it. Top that.

I see you gave up on the list. Figures.
