Let me guess that its not a cut and if it were it’s insignificant

That won't stop the cries of "The Republicans are trying to starve children."

Right.

And you would, as all good Americans, be sure that the needy get taken care of.

We would need to. Assessing the needy is something else. But this govt sure isn’t doing that.

We’re 17 trillion in debt.

Then the politicians couldn’t woo these votes; they’d have to campaign on taking care of the country via the Constitution.

About a year ago, I read an article about a family of four, with an income of $60,000 per year, receiving food stamps. I can't remember what state they were in, but even in a high cost-of-living state, $60,000 per year cannot be poverty.

It isn’t.

someone is going to have to get the majority of grown ups to act like adults

The kids who are in high school right now are going to have to pay for this.

How are we preparing them to do so, if we’re not going to take away this burden?

By providing them with liberal ideas and an erasure of everything that made this country what it is?

By slamming them prematurely with sex, sex ed and deviant sex ed?

with social media, to get them out of our hair?

No one prior to the 1960s complained about teenagers.

I refuse to listen to anyone warn me about my kids hitting teen years.

My kids are a part of our family. They’ve got a job to do in school, and a job to do figuring out how to get to, through and to pay for college and get out with a job they like and then they NEED to have fun.

But they need parents who are not self obsessed.

these kids are going to be paying for this.

Sadly, a lot of these kids got caught up in “Yes, We Can!” Only when they get the bill, will they realize “No, We Can’t!”

More sadly, the kids of we conservatives, who were instilled with critical thinking skills and who did not get caught up in the demagoguery, will be saddled with the same bill.

Perversely, I sometimes wish God takes me home very soon, so that I won’t have to witness when the SHTF in this country. Yet another part of me wants to stay and fight. But there are fewer and fewer people to fight for anymore....So many sheeple that just want to get sheered.

A defeatist attitude seems rather common. Where’s the fun in that?

When you work with kids in a setting wher there parents haveade them go in ordrr to improve, you will find hope

They are energetic, imaginative. They despise hypocrisy and the stifling of there ideas. They love classic characters good and bad. They love triumph over evil

Does that sound at all familiar?

Get out there.

I’m not defeatist, just tired. Just really, really tired.

I’m old enough to have seen this country at its best, and now at its worst. The inexorable trend is clear: Barak Obama (”Spread the wealth around”) would have never even come close to winning the Democrat primary 30 years ago.

Now, despite the economy, the pro-Muslim-Brotherhood foreign policy, the nationalization of health care, 52% of the voting public reelected him.

Most of the country is now nothing more than brain-dead drones. Sheep who willingly cast their votes to be sheered, hoping the government will give them a free sweater in return.

People capable of falling to such a state are beyond redemption. And yet, something inside stirs me to fight on anyway. I guess because I am an American.

None of these?

I don,t know but i have been in every one of those situations and have never been on welfare, although i can see a need for it, it has just gone way over board.

It’s a scam. I’ve seen these lazy leeches buy beer and stuff and place it in their brand new cars.

F em. I hope these bastards starve.

“I think we should go back to a food bank concept; no choice if you are on the dole and “needy” - a couple bags of dry and caned staples and some frozen ground beef. No steaks, no shrimp, no crab.”

How about a compromise version of that. People on food stamps should only be able to use them on 3 aisles in the grocery store.

Fresh meats: but not Deli meats, no frozen chicken nuggets
Dairy: milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs and the like but no cream pies that are displayed in dairy
Produce: Any fresh veg or fruit available
Baby food and formula

Nothing else:
No bread products
No frozen foods, not even vegetables
No cookies crackers or boxes of cereal
No canned food, either vegetables or meats
No condiments, salad dressings, BBQ sauce
No beverages like soda or water
No alcohol
No Tobacco
No cosmetics
No toiletries
No cleaning supplies

If they want starch then get a bag of potatoes, a taro or some other starchy vegetable. They could even buy (gasp)a bag of pasta or loaf of bread themselves.

Admittedly there are wholesome, nutritious items left out of this list. There are also some things in some of these areas that generally considered to be junk food but a plan like this would provide for adequate nutrition for anyone. It would perhaps require grocery stores to change their displays a bit but it would simple to understand, and it would eliminate a lot of the issues tax payers have with food stamps

Notice the aisles I’ve allowed are generally where you get the more nutritious foods but these things also cost less than the processed crap. So you could reduce the monthly and still provide more food. It would be difficult to claim, though some would try that they did not have access to quality nutritious foods. It would probably require the welfare queens to learn how to cook a meal rather than pop the pizza rolls in the microwave.

I am not a food NAZI. If you want to eat lots of junk go ahead, so long as you buy it yourself with money you earned yourself.

I doubt it and here’s why.

Hubby mentioned the “upcoming doubled milk prices” so I Googled that, looking for news.

Turns out that every year, they threaten ‘milk prices will double!’ when trying to ram through food stamp budgets and without fail, the GOP caves.

I hope I’m wrong but history seems to show otherwise.

I see the same thing all the time and was called a liar on FB because I “don’t post under my real name”.

I can’t even afford the *purses* these women carry their EBT cards in, let alone the cars they heave their arses and carts full of pricey grub into.

4bil cut is off the top of a 100bil increase for example. So it’s not a cut in spending but a decrese of the incremental yearly increase.

Full bodied males who buy more sh*t than I do using their EBT cards...even one in front of me bought a 12 pack of beer 2 weeks ago at Rite Aid.

I will repeat: cut 20 billion more from food stamps and let em’ starve.

*Many* years ago I had a friend whose husband left her and she was on food stamps for a time.

I *think* she had a list of things she could buy with them and beer wasn’t on there.

It resembled the ‘pared-down list’ up-thread.

I do know that I had to buy her kids candy canes for Christmas because the stamps wouldn’t cover them.

That was about 20 years ago.

Things have spiraled downward dramatically.
