Daley Drops Out Of Race For Illinois Governor
NPR ^ | September 17, 2013

Former White House chief of staff William Daley abruptly dropped out of the race for Illinois governor Monday, signaling he wasn't sure he wanted to devote time to a long, hard campaign followed by at least four years in office.

The decision leaves Gov. Pat Quinn without a prominent challenger in the Democratic primary next March, unless another candidate makes a late entry into the race.

Daley spokesman Peter Giangreco confirmed that the son of late Mayor Richard J. Daley and brother of former Mayor Richard M. Daley was ending what many had believed would be a serious challenge to the incumbent.

What's amazing here, is that the gubnor isn't in prison yet. Hasn't the last three or four or eight gubnors of that state gone to the hoosegow?

To date, the following IL governors have gone away to Club Fed: 1) Gov. Otto Kerner (D-deceased), 2) Gov. Dan Walker (D-deceased), 3) Gov. George Ryan (R), and 4) Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D). We have been hoping that Gov. Pat Quinn would make it five felons behind bars, but not with Holder's DoJ in charge of covering up for Donkey corruption. [It should be noted that the deceased governors Kerner and Walker still vote Donkey in Chicago every election.]

With a DoJ purged of Holder's and Obama’s appointees, there's a fertile field of corrupt politicians in IL to keep U.S. Attorneys employed and the federal prisons stocked for decades.

Dan Walker is still alive at 91.

Dan Walker is alive? I thought he'd assumed room temperature.

Oh, well, he will be going that way soon and he'll still be voting in the Chicago elections. Chicago and Cook County have the most dedicated Donkey voters living in cemeteries. The dead can always be counted on to vote the “correct” way.

Nope, Walker is now the 2nd longest lived Governor in IL history (the 1st was Joseph Fifer, who died just short of 98). Walker is now living in Baja California, Mexico.

Even if ex-Gov. Walker dies and is buried in Baja California, Mexico, he will still be voting for Donkey candidates in Chicago and Cook County for at least 150 years.

Think the Combine told him to get out ?

If Princess Lisa jumps in, yes.

If not, then I don't think so. They know Quinn is a weaker GE candidate due to his large unpopularity.

IMHO, this means that Illinois is just about to collapse/implode financially, and Daley doesn't want to run for the job of the next/last captain of the Titanic. To make the reforms necessary, he, as the next governor, would have to fight tooth and nail EVERY major Democrat constituency group.

So, just say 'Goodbye, Illinois..." instead..

Daly could not steal the 2000 election. How will he win without cheating.

I thought that Quinn pointedly was *not* a Combiner, and that Daley was the Combine’s candidate? If Madigan gets in, then perhaps it was a Combiner move, but I think that Madigan is staying at AG. The likeliest explanation for Daley dropping out is that Quinn has the goods on him.

The combine is non-partisan, full of Dems and Rinos, so maybe Bruce Rauner is the combine candidate, he is already friendly with obozo’s cohorts. Then they can still steal all the money and blame the Republicans.

I see being a combiner as something of a continuum. With any given politician the question is how much of one are they (or how much do they go along). Quinn was an outsider for most of his career. But since he’s become Governor, I think he’s on board.

But yes I think they wanted Daley, and Hynes was their boy last time.

Democrats are fearful of Quinn’s chances in November.

If Lisa jumps in that means orders came in from her daddy. If not, then Daley probably quit because he’s sitting on scandal. With his experience in politics his given explanation is not very plausible.

The Combine could’ve decided it’s time to replace their Democrat puppet with a Republican one.

Quinn wasn’t a Combiner, but became one as Governor. It was their “help” that provided the votes to retain him in 2010 (whether those votes were legal is debatable) over non-Combiner Brady.
