NBC News reports that Aaron Alexis was armed with "an assault-style rifle, a shotgun and a handgun" when he was killed in a shootout with authorities. Law enforcement told NBC "they believed he arrived packing only the shotgun, which he bought last week from a gun dealer in Lorton, Va., about 20 miles from Washington."
The Washington DC local NBC affiliate says that sources informed them "that surveillance footage showed that he began his attack with a shotgun, but was found with a 9mm pistol and an AR-15 assault rifle."
The suspected gunman appeared to have seized firearms from two of his victims as he moved through the building along the Anacostia River in southeast Washington, where 3,000 Navy employees go to work each day, many of them carrying authorized firearms.

Yes, I know. But Piers Morgan (on his show) was shouting down one of his guests, saying that the gunman legally bought the AR-15. I wonder if he will apologize on his next show for his blatant error?
IF Aaron Alexis picked up the rifle and handgun “along the way”, I seriously doubt he had an AR15. I kinda doubt that military or POlice on a military base would be carrying the CIVILIAN model. My guess is, M-4. In fact I mentioned to my wife that when the black woman described the shooting said, she heard the shots “popopop”. She actually sounded like an auto fire AND only voiced three pops.
OK. Has anyone figured out how much ammo he could have actually had in whatever weapons he obtained? The reports I have seen indicate that he did not use his shotgun to shoot at people.
So, how many rounds in each of the pieces he acquired?
I know only of Arthur Daniels as a black shot by him, and we don’t know under what circumstances—e.g., if he had been confronted by him.
But a heavy violent video-game player who had been under psychiatric treatment at least at some point fits the usual profile of this kind of killer.

Since Mr Davis was a govt contractor installing office furniture and the shooter dude was a low clearance contractor who worked to refurbish computer equipment, it's possible they knew him or recognized his company uniform which was supposedly all-blue

It was noted on FOX last night at there would be govt surveillance street and building cameras of every move made by this guy before he even entered the gates of the base

Yeah but it was after you had walked up to the entry point. These guards had become mighty complacent to let him get that close with a long weapon without noticing the weapon or an attempt to conceal it as he approached. Rent a cops basically are equal to school lunch line workers. Sadly I always feel vulnerable when I have to go to court (state or federal) and leave mine in the car since those guards are usually over 60-65 and sitting reading the paper as you enter. They have no more clue than my 15 year old daughter what is happening around them.
