U.S. law enforcement officials are telling The Associated Press that the Navy contractor identified as the gunman in the mass shootings at the Washington Navy Yard had been suffering a host of serious mental issues, including paranoia and a sleep disorder. He also had been hearing voices in his head, the officials said.

And to think that we are worried about ANY government agency gathering information about us! Apparently they don’t know what to do with it!

Reagan actually personally ordered the deinstitucionalization of the mentally ill and the closure of the mental hospitals - to save money! - when he was governor of California. He was famously quoted as saying, during an interview in response to the question of how these people were going to survive, that they could get jobs as school playground monitors!

Reagan was great in many ways. But he was sure wrong on this issue.

Yes, that was the one , Colin ferguson. The only good thing about yesterday was at least that they managed to kill the shooter - so that his survivng victims would be spared a similar trial.

Another background investigation was re-run and cleared through the defense security service in July 2013.

I’ll offer that vegetarianism based on secular morality likely increases the odds one becomes a murderer, as there is no distinction (morally) between humans and animals. Lacking that distinction, observation (in their mind) of humans ‘murdering’ other animals could certainly flip the switch of an unstable secular vegetarian.

If he had been a white conservative the MSM would paint him as representing everyone in the Tea Party - and they would call him a terrorist.

When the killer’s black - liberal - or Muslim - he has ‘a mental problem - or acting alone - not a terrorist - or stress caused workplace violence.

Not that the effing liberals have two standards or anything... but when was the last time a conservative was given ‘cover’ by the ‘oh so compassionate’ in the MSM?

I posted in some of that NAS and spying threads that the collection of data would collapse upon itself, because it was too massive to be meaningful. IIRC, there is something like 1 billion emails per day and that number is expected to triple in 2 years. That doesn't even include all the daily web pages accessed or the kitty videos.

The ideal candidate to be an unknowing assassin for the regime. Just like Jared Loughner was. Both were known by the military to have mental problems that could cover for targeted manipulation; both started hearing voices in their heads shortly before they attacked.

It’s tricky for the regime though, because we’ve already got laws on the books that were supposed to protect against mentally ill people having access to guns, and those laws failed in both these cases. In addition, the military was aware of the latest guy’s history and condition - and STILL not only didn’t take care of his issues but also didn’t keep their other workers safe from him.

If this guy was a Buddhist as they’re making it sound, he may well be a victim just as much as those he killed. The regime may have used him as an assassin.

Gun Control exponents will of course, exploit any opportunity for their aims but I don’t think this one works real well for that.

Deinstitutionalization: A Psychiatric Titanic.

This is a scholarly publication. While it may be over your head, it discusses the impacts of mental illness and deinstitutionalization 1955-1994. The name Reagan is not found in the document.

I work in a very large successful corporation as a data analyst (in a tax capacity). Large corporation does not mean organized corporation. Nothing can be certain when records do not jive.

Besides, we ARE talking about the government here, LOL! Besides the bureaucracy, incompetency drags down the civil service.
