Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli II fired up a crowd of several hundred fellow Republicans and tea party members Tuesday with plenty of rousing talk about keeping the federal government at bay and fighting to maintain the commonwealths tradition of limited government.
The Virginia attorney general, joined by nationally syndicated talk show host Mark Levin, appeared at a rally in Sterling and marked Constitution Day by boasting of his legal challenges to President Obamas health-care overhaul and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a way of fighting for limited government.
Get government out of the way, and you will watch the American economy explode, Cuccinelli said, invoking the names of Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and other Virginia-born patriots. Those principles that they built this nation on are eternal and universal. They apply everywhere and all the time. They apply as much in 2013 as they did in 1776.
Cuccinelli also painted his Democratic opponent, Terry McAuliffe, as a creature of inside-the-Beltway politics who would exacerbate partisan tensions in Virginia. The loudest applause came when he spoke of his support for school choice that would allow students trapped in failing schools in places such as Petersburg to attend other schools.
A child in Virginia a child in Petersburg trapped in the boundaries of a failing school, cant pursue happiness if they cant get a decent education. And right now, their own government blocks them from alternatives that would allow them to pursue happiness, Cuccinelli said. We dont promise outcomes, we promise opportunity. And this is a classic example where we can expand and make real the promise of opportunity of government policy, and that being school choice.

I don’t put too much into any one election, but if Cuccinelli loses to McAuliffe, I will be damn near convinced our nation is lost. The only way Virginia selects that slime ball over a a very impressive and accomplished Cuccinelli is if the tipping point is truly achieved and the masses simply can be turned out to vote regardless of candidate. I know many of us feel that after 2012 anyway, but my hope is that the lack of a serious alternative in the challenger spot contributed tot he outcome. In this race, it is undeniable which is the superior candidate and which would be the better gocernor.
IN VA Beach McAuliffe is on channel 10 all the time with ads, not many for Cuccinelli . The Rats are playing the “Women” card big time...abortion and Ken is not there for abused women, blah blah blah.........Ken needs prayer and help. This is a dirty race and the issues are NOT getting out there. The real info on Terri Dirtbag is not getting out there for people to see. Please write papers and make comments on FB etc to rebuke the lies. Every time I see WVEC, WAVY Etc make comments able this race I reply with the facts and tell them I am ashamed of how they (news) are slanting the issues!
Cuccinelli gave a short speech at the Bristol Nascar race, ragged on Baraq about gun control. He got a lot of cheers, but not sure how many fans were from Va, certainly some as that corner of Tn is close by.
Cuccinelli should rip out a page from De Blasio book of campaigning and feature his family more prominently in some of the ads. I think he has seven children. It’s time to get close up and personal in a positive way. Chances are someone as accomplished as Cuccinelli married a well spoken, presentable woman. Send your better half out there if he hasn’t already done so. Many of our Republicans running for office are ready and able to do a good job, just not very keen on selling themselves to the LoFo voting public.
I agree this is a bellwether. McCauliffe is so sleazy I don't know how anyone with even a room temperature IQ could vote for him.
Same in Northern Virginia. McAullife is clearly vastly outspending Cuccinelli. There are many more adds for McAullife and they started earlier. The public momentum seems to be with the Rats.
Does McAwful really have a good chance? If so, why?
When you look up slimeball crooked politician in the dictionary, there’s his pic.
Last year in Texas an almost equal (to mcawful) sleeze-bag DoWorst out spent Cruz many times over. DoWorst was on TV non-stop with mud and lies. When it came vote time we knew who NOT to vote for by a wide margin.
I always thought Virginia and Texas was more alike than any other two states, how could V voters not know better?
Cuccinelli has got four problems:
1) He's working full time as Attorney General and trying to run a part-time campaign. It ain't working, especially since McAuliffe is using every waking moment to try and get elected.
2)His campaign headquarters is in Northern Virginia and out of touch with the rest of the Commonwealth.
3) His campaign is weak and defensive, and his advisors are telling him to play it safe by adopting the Romney strategy.
4) While McAuliffe is tapping into the outside Clinton money machine, Cuccinelli's fundraising has been anemic.
Agree, agree. Sadly.
There are now in actuality three Virginias:
1) The Conservative central and southwestern regions.
2) The Hampton Roads-Richmond ghetto corridor.
3) Northern Virginia, which is populated almost exclusively by hoards of northeastern transplants, government employees, and out-of-state contractors.
#'s 2 and 3 outnumber #1.
The real question is, are the masses being turned out to vote, or are votes being turned in en masse?
Campaign staff question...Is this the same Romney gang? The so-called RNC experts?
One thing for sure is the GOPe has the worst advisers money can buy!
