OBERLIN City Council has passed an ordinance eliminating their blanket prohibition of the possession of firearms in municipal parks. Four council members voted Monday for passage of the amended ordinance, while three members preferring to table the ordinance for further discussion, voted against it. Oberlins previous law banning possession of firearms in municipal parks conflicted with state law which permits firearms in public parks. The city had the option of either rescinding the local law or preparing for a legal battle with gun rights activists. Other cities have not fared well in similar legal battles.

Whew! There for a moment, I was afraid Oberlin had seen the light of day.
By the way, there's no such thing as "gun rights." Guns don't have rights. Only people have those, and we have rights to keep and bear arms and self-defense.
LOL..it is Oberlin, after all. Still surprising though.
This is sort of like hell getting a light frost instead of freezing over.
We need to start seeing a lot more of this across the nation.
