WASHINGTON — The gunman who killed 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard on Monday test-fired an AR-15 assault rifle at a Virginia gun store last week but was stopped from buying one because state law there prohibits the sale of such weapons to out-of-state buyers, according to two senior law enforcement officials.

Instead, the gunman, Aaron Alexis of Texas, bought a law-enforcement-style shotgun — an 870 Remington pump — and used it on Monday as he rampaged through the navy yard, said the officials, who requested anonymity b

A Mossberg 500 is probably more evil, but only if in black drag. Let’s fact it. If it goes `bang’ they hate it.
Yeah, I used to hunt dove with a guy who had a Remington 870 and I had an 1100. He razzed me for paying more for semi-auto.

None of that is reported to FBI.
Just long gun or pistol.

The 4473 stays on file with your FFL.

Not sure what the regs are on out of state sales but I imagine all would require a NICS check.

When someone is hell-bent on creating mayhem, only an alert and prepared populace is sufficient to stop them.

The old Anglo-Saxon "hue and cry" .... worked like a charm back in the day.

Only a thieving, grafting, lying poltroon intent on mastering the People by propagating "quietism" and talking b.s. about "perfeshunal" policing and standing armies being necessary, would derogate people's ability to see to their own needs.

That's why Communists in Hollywood ran wild for years (think Dalton Trumbo, Ben Barzman, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Will Geer) making movies that blackguarded people's efforts at vigilance and militia protection, and glorified professional killers like Wyatt Earp and Pat Garrett, and totalitarian fonctionnaires like Eliot Ness (and his wiretaps), as utterly necessary and the only way to secure law and order.

If we gave that info and serial number we would in fact have National gun registration.

“I think these cops are full of crap.”

They are. There is no such law that I’m aware of in VA.

“law-enforcement-style shotgun” LMAO

Mine could actually fit that description. Mine is an exact copy of the one in this video and I doubt very much that Obama’s son lookalike put one on these together.

drives my brother-in-law nuts.

Do you have a selector switch so you can fire it in single (thirty rounds per trigger pull), semi-automatic (thirty rounds per trigger pull), and full auto single (thirty rounds per trigger pull)? Does your brother object to holding the ammunition belt as you spray an area with automatic shotgun fire? (/journalist)

“Senior Law Officers are not BATFE agents.”

They’re also bald faced liars. They’re trying to start the chain of lies that an assault weapons ban saved lives.

It didn’t. And they’re full of s***.
