I was just talking with my chief about this today. TASER makes a camera called the AXON and it is about 300 dollars.

Cameras on officers are going to happen.

Put the cameras on or loose your job ... works every time.

This is a good idea - if the officer is honest, the camera will save his arse from the inevitable unjust civilian complainant. If the officer is bent, the camera may help get him canned with hard evidence.

It will be just like body armor and seatbelts. Have them on or you’re fired.

Insurance companies are not screwing around about the liabilities of not abiding with those very reasonable demands.

We're being watched here, there, and a great many other places, aren't we?

Since government has become corrpt at all levels, lets put audio/video cameras in congressmen offices, the senate mayors offices, city councils offices...Every swinging SOB involved in biggov at every level...Except those involved in national security of course..

Everyone else, take the f’n doors off the stinking offices, no more closed door anything....And install audio/video cameras in them where tax payers can monitor these corrupt SOBs....

In addition, anyone involved in government at ALL levels outside national security, should have their finances, bank account, purchases, investigated every 6 months or so...In fact investigate monitor and allow tax payers to monitor their emails, cell calls and office calls. These corrupt SOB work for us...Lets end cancerous corruption of government which occurs at every level. Then randomly drug test the mayors, POTUS, congress, their staffs...

This is just for starters.

The cameras will only be of value if they cannot be tampered with or
turned off by the officer whenever desired and of the data recorded is
beyond the reach of LEO so that it cannot “disappear” or be tampered with
in order to insure the outcome the officers and their union desires.

If these conditions are not met then they would simply be another waste
of $$$ and another intrusion into the privacy of citizens.

The first time those cameras implicate the cops in a scandal they will be removed by the department.

Didn’t SF or Oakland do that recently?

Almost every officer wears his radio microphone attached to his shoulder epaluet. It's trivial to include in that radio mic a camera and audio recording.

Won’t work — the most corrupt politians will spend their days on the golf course.

Taking bribes is easier on the golf course

Corrupt and/or stupid LEOs tend to try to make the cameras malfunction when they are about to do something they don’t want anyone else to see.

Of course it'll work.

They might take the bribes on the golf course, but they got to put the bribe somewhere right? They got to buy stuff with it right?

Please direct your attention to door number #10.
