Reuters) - Democrat Terry McAuliffe leads Republican Ken Cuccinelli by just 3 percentage points in the race for Virginia governor as the tightest U.S. governor's contest gets even closer, a Quinnipiac University poll showed on Wednesday.

McAuliffe, a businessman and former Democratic National Committee chairman, leads Cuccinelli, Virginia's attorney general, 44 percent to 41 percent, within the survey's margin of error.

The polling question specifically identifies Sarvis as a Libertarian. Very few if any of them will shift to the Democrat. Maybe half will shift to the Republican.

Then, among the undecideds, this is a three-way, not a two-way. Very few will be undecided between the Libertarian and the Democrat. Half are undecided between the major party candidates, and half between the Republican and the Libertarian.

There’s a lot of “secret strength” for the Republican in these numbers, because of the Libertarian in the race. Right now, I’m thinking, Republican 49, Democrat 47, Libertarian 4.

True; The Old Dominion did tally more votes for the won than for the rino. But when we get a true Virginia-style conservative, Virginians come out of the woodwork to vote for him. Ken will benefit from this.
