Despite it being overwhelmingly clear that the American people want nothing to do with the civil war in Syria, the Pentagon has proposed entering the war. Under the proposal U.S. involvement will escalate from providing weapons to rebels via the CIA to direct support and training of rebel forces by the U.S. military.

Obama: no boots on the ground.
McCain: no boots on the ground.
Did Lindsey Graham, Peter King, Schumer, Boehner, Cantor, Reid, Pelosi and Steny Hoyer all say the same thing?
Just wondering...
I’m okay with boots on the ground - as long as they are full bird colonel or above that occupies them.
and the politicians advocating any troops in Syria.
Of course...
and to keep our troops safe they wont have any of those nasty dangerous guns or ammo...
No! No, more getting involved in matters that don’t concern us or advance our national security interests.
It is as I suspected: the fix is in. We will see American troops deployed to Syria.
All the rest that you read is just Kabuki Theater for the reality-show junkies.
What purpose would it serve to put our soldiers in harm’s way there, other than getting more of our finest young men and women killed and maimed? What progress would be served by our presence there?
There is no redeeming reason for us to put any of our people in Syria. It’s not going to change a thing in regard to “peace” and will probably contribute to more instability.
Assad sucks, but his opponents are worse. We should stay the heck out of this. We have no dog in this fight except to not allow the muslim extremists to take charge. Let Assad finish the battle and be done with it.
This is a scenario that the pentagon was surely ordered to explore and report on.
No where does it state nor quote that the pentagon has an opinion or any advice on going into Syria. Nowhere does it say the pentagon proposed it except bunt the fictional headline.
This reads like a ‘the Vatican says...’ headline which invariably leads to no such finding in the article
I think direct communication is going to render these propagandists out of commission
FDR: “I have said this before, but I shall say it again and again and again: Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars.”
The State Dept. has long wanted to “solve” the Israeli-Arab conflict by putting US/NATO/UN “peacekeepers” around the borders of Israel (turning that nation into a giant ghetto)—
which would make Israeli retaliatory strikes impossible.
Next, after UN and EU resolutions, would come the “rollback” of Israel to the 1967 borders (as the entire would would demand); “pressured” or “forced” by the presence of US/NATO/UN troops (peacekeepers).
Somehow that starts with US troops in the Golan.
Watch for it...
Well at least they are honest: the CIA cultivates war.
This will turn out really well.
Why limit boots on the ground to just training? Seems to me, if we are to aid Al-qaida, might as well have US forces lobbing scuds into Israel, making mayhem on Christians, issuing dull blades to US troops for application to necks, and, generally, free reign to reminisce like Ghengis Kahn...
“What purpose would it serve...?”
War will be Obama’s economic stimulus part II.
Simply supplying rebels is an act of war.
Boots on the ground is an escalation.
I am just wondering how offended this admin will act when the Syrians start shooting back.
“Why are you attacking us?”
The lesson learned in Greece in the late 40’s was that US trained and led native forces could be quite effective. Those forces are motivated warriors needing training and direction.
The problem is weapons. The rebels need artillery and some air power would help.
Now that chemical weapons are out of the picture, another causis beli must be discovered by the coalition supporting the rebels that is adequate to support a greater role sans the USA wimp
Note that the coalition has US trained special forces capable of doing the job and in need of more powerful weapons.
I am willing to parachute the entire congress in.

How about reserving that for the Obama appointees only?
Big surprise......they lied.
They couldnt tell the truth if their lives depended on it.
We are now the AQ allies.....that whole WTC/Pentagon and Shanksville thing never happened>
Enough to make a real American want to vomit.
How short are the memories at the Pentagon?
OR
How many have to work for al Qaeda within the Pentagon
(or a Hexagon which should replace it given it cannot
follow its Oath to the Constitution) for the Pentagon
to forget 911, and AIDE, help, abet and assist al Qaeda?
I don’t know when FDR said that if he did but after Pearl Jarbor guys who couldn’t serve died of shame. They were not in there for FDR
Is this from the military side of DOD or the Obama appointed civilian side? Let me guess??
The military is being directed to plan operations for Syria.
There is no way that the military is pushing this option.
Training rebels in Jordan..defending Jordan and Israel is ok in my book. They are our allies. But sending troops in Syria? No way.
I am willing to parachute the entire congress in.

Re: post 8
Please stop talking sense. Common sense and logic has no place in the conversation when an agenda is being pursued.
Thank you.
Training.
Then, advisors.
Then, combat troops.
Good morning, Vietnam.
Dont be so sure....

The materials including chemical weapons-related personal protective gear and medical supplies will be sent to vetted members of the Syrian opposition, international aid groups inside Syria, and any other organizations working to prevent the preparation, use, or proliferation of Syrias chemical weapons, an administration official said.
And the materials to go with the protective gear:

Germany sold tonnes of chemicals to Syria which were capable of being put to military use.
The chemicals sold have a dual usethey can be used for both military and non-military purposes. They include hydrogen fluoride, ammonium hydrogen fluoride and sodium cyanide. The export of the chemicals is restricted but not illegal, the Süddeutsche newspaper reported, as they are used in industry.
Yeah, great stimulus, that.
Yep. History is in the process of repeating itself.
This is probably coming from SecDef’s office (criminal corrupt civilian FedGov employees and appointees), not the JCS (actual military side of DOD).
Can you imagine what the jihadis will do to our troops if they capture some.Sickening and not worth 1 drop of American blood!
Who do you think trained them re: using the weapons.
I’m sure there were boots from Mali, Mauritiana, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Jordan and other places we don’t know about.
Off-topic.
BTW, whatever happened to all the prison escapees we hear nothing about at Abu Ghraib, Taji, other Iraq prisons and in Afghanistan, Libya and Pakistan? That happened when the embassies were ‘closed’. I know some of them are involved in Syria as we speak.
The answer is NO. We tried this once, in Beirut, and it got a lot of good men killed for nothing. No, no, NO, NO!
Just some pathetic posturing by the Pentigon to give Obama cover...some Obama will “appear” less like a rat catching chicken-hawk.
I wouldn’t doubt that for a minute.
Welcome to the “Jihad Road Show”, opening in a 3rd-world backwater near you.
I’m not seeing how this is news. We (US) already have a unit in Jerdan doing exactly this: training rebels. Sounds more to me like Dempsey is angling for more money what with Afganyland winding down and all.?
OK-— I guess the Saudis are pulling the strings. You know the ones that arm, train, supply the Islamic monsters that butcher Christian kids.
Oh and pay off politicians in DC.
Saudis schmaudis. They don’t benefit bupkis either way. There’s another nation that DOES...and it ain’t us.
Worse than that, it' basically a war against Christianity and Christians, who will have no place in Syria should the mobros win.
This is put out there for one reason. If the government is shut down our troops won’t be paid!
I had a liberal say to me “Bush ought to send his daughters to the damned war in Iraq.” I doubt very seriously he is now saying “Obama should send his daughters to Syria.” I don’t know because I no longer speak to him.
A weird dynamic has gripped Americans since Obama came to power... I’ve lost liberal friends because of comments I’ve made about Obama... it’s amazing to see the adoration they have for him. Since libs don’t tend to have spiritual faith in anything except global warming “science,” their surrogate “god” tends to be Obama.... and even the slightest criticism of Obama results in screams of “blasphemy.”
Syria may be a "fence" for the transfer of USD to Yuan or at least a major leak. It could be an attempt to put a band aid on the femoral artery. Anyone who tries to flee the USD may get a visit from a carrier group http://www.transfermate.com/en/exchange_rates_table_syp_cny.asp
