The leaders of the Administrative Review Board that investigated the attacks on US facilities in Benghazi, Libya, appeared before the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee Thursday, and offered testimony that further undermined the already-tattered credibility of their own probe.
In descriptions that emphasized their friendly, even collaborative dealings with the top State Department officials who were ostensibly among the subjects of their investigation, Ambassador Thomas Pickering and Admiral Mike Mullen defended their work and shrugged off criticism from Republicans on the panel.
But the substance of the responses from Pickering and Mullen, respectively chairman and vice chairman of the ARB, validated the skepticism of their critics and raised many new questions about the independence of their work and the reliability of their conclusions.
If more news organizations were covering Benghazi as a legitimate news story, the ARB hearings, and the lengthy depositions that preceded them, would represent a significant development. For nine months, top Obama administration officials have used the ARB report as something of a shield, portraying the probe as exhaustive and independent in order to deflect the many unanswered questions about Benghazi that remain. And because the new, discrediting information about the ARB comes from the ARB leaders themselvesin their own words, not those of their criticsdefenders of the administration will have a hard time dismissing it as partisan.
The hearings and transcribed interviews made clear that the ARB probe was neither exhaustive nor independent.
Among the revelations:
*Secretary of State Hillary Clinton handpicked the two leaders of the ARB who were given the job of investigating her department.
*Cheryl Mills, the chief of staff and senior counselor to Secretary Clinton, was intimately involved with the ARB panel from the beginning. She called the leaders at Clintons behest to ask them to serve,....

Why would anyone want to put their life in the hands of the Coward-in-Chief by working in a foreign service outpost?
I was skeptical going into this hearing, expecting a dog and pony show, after starting kind of slow, it became a hard hitting hearing, there were good questions that demonstrated complicity in coverup.
There should eventually be numerous trials, if they follow through.
Missiles For Muzzies
Benghazi ping. Let Republicanprofessor know via Freepmail if you want on or off this ping list.
It’s worse than that.
Why would anyone enlist in the military when the CINC violates the core values - no man left behind?
Uncle Joe would be proud : |
May God give us strength.
Benghazi has all the “sexy” elements of stories that our American population and media have usually liked: we have a thriller in progress, murder, suspicions, Islamic terrorists, gun smuggling to Syrian rebels, former SEALs fighting for honor’s sake, and governmental cover-ups. It’s going to be a great movie, better than Argo, when the truth comes out.
Oh, yes, it has the element of media corruption too. When will it catch on?!?!
Never give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I saw from Issa, Gowdy and Chaffetz during the testimony of the parents gives me renewed hope.
I am looking for anything on the two survivors that Issa named as receiving subpoenas.
Oh God....I HATE these people.....I know Jesus told us to love our enemies, but these people are EVIL and VILE.
...I watched the utube version of Mullen’s testimony. To say that I came away from that experience thinking the man was lying through his teeth is an understatement. He had guilt written all over his face and his body language was equally as guilty. To think that this man was an admiral in our Navy is depressing. His arrogance in thinking intelligent men and women would believe him given all the facts we have is galling.
For me, having had the privledge back in 69-71 of working a few feet away from the Admiral of ComServGroup3 (aboard the USS Hector in the Western Pacific during the height of the Vietnam War), this new low in sleaze for one our top military men is particularly demoralizing. I was just a lowly petty officer but this Admiral treated me with the utmost respect every single day greatly elevating my respect for our officer corp and the Navy in general. I was proud to work for him. Sigh!!!...what have we come to?
Sharyl was NOT as hard hitting as she could have been to Pickering especially when he said “there was no trail”.....HELLO WHO ORDERED CHRIS STEVENS TO BE IN BENGHAZI??????
I know. I used to take for granted our military could and would protect us. After Benghazi... I don’t have faith in any of the higher ups.
Just about every top Admiral or General within the top echelon are “flagpole” officers .... the kind that if you got unlucky enough to serve with you prayed for their speedy departure back to the Pentagon.
The political class in the US is more corrupt than any S American banana republic.
And guess what, the GOP are just different colored pigs at the same trough.
There's no accountability. Our conservatives pundits rant and rave to NO f'ing purpose
All this shit is just a charade.
“There should eventually be numerous trials, if they follow through.”
Watch Trey Gowdy eviscerate these two hapless scumballs (especially Mullen).
The Navy should hang it’s collective head in shame that this man ever wore the uniform!
Trey Gowdy should be House Speaker. Jason Chaffetz should be Majority Leader. These two men are leaders and the are fearless.
