Let’s put a picture and address on the SNAP and EBT cards.

Gee, that's awful Susan. Guess your efforts to get everyone employed have fallen flat, huh?

Just think: if we didn't have 8 to 10 million illegals on food stamps (conservative estimate), you might have enough cash left over to take care of Americans stuck in poverty.

Whatta concept, huh?!

Collins predicts the Senate will reject the cuts to the food stamp program.

Of course they will
The House more closely responds to the people.
The Senate more closely respond to the Government.

Hey Susan - it is NOT too deep until it goes into negative territory. Half of working able America is sleeping in the Gubmint hammock.

““We have a lot of elderly people living in rural Maine who really depend on food stamps in order to get proper nutrition. We also have a lot of children living in poor families that are also dependent on food stamps. ” “

Well then I suggest the rest of that state of loons get together and take up a collection to make up the difference if you care about them as much as you like to pretend.

This is all Kabuki Theater. The House proposes the cuts, the Senate will strip them out, and the compromise package will fund EBT cards, so strip club- and liquor store-owners need not worry. All is well.

This like other problems would be solved by a robust economy. The biggest obstacle to prosperity is not economic forces but the paralyzing ideology of the White House.

We have a lot of elderly people living in rural Maine who really depend on food stamps in order to get proper nutrition.

Well in that case you won't mind if the government then limits food stamps to foods that are nutritionally proper. That way Michelle can strong arm people on the dole into eating broccoli and leave the rest of us alone.

I've got a thought. Why doesn't Senator Collins support laws that would bring manufacturing and the fishing industry back to Maine? Since she wants to criticize something, how about criticizing LL Bean (huge Maine retailer) which only sells a handful of its merchandise made in the USA?

That should solve Maine's food stamp problem. It's called earning your keep. We should make a list of RINOs who are as disgusting as McCain.

“Senator Susan Collins say a proposal in Congress to slash food stamps funding would hurt Mainers who need it most. “

Those who need it the least would still get food stamps? What exactly is this doorknob saying?

Get tough with those who abuse the food stamp program by purchasing steaks and lobster then selling their card for half of its cash value to buy drugs and you will save far more than $4 billion a year.

Ugly thread.

Post
#1 Blank
#2 Fraud Prevention - Good Post
#3 Anti-Immigration which is clearly part of the unemployment problem- Good Post
#4 Cold Hearted post - that wrongly assumes most Americans are for cutting the benefits before the unemployment issue is dealt with.
#5 Cold Hearted post - that assumes all unemployed Americans are lazy and ignores the government policies that offshored their jobs.
#6 Cold Hearted post - that wants to push all benefits to the state level and assumes those wanting to help the unemployed are “loons”.
#7 Cold Hearted post - that thinks a 5% cut is fine.
#8 Fatalist or possibly realistic post - that says nothing will change.
#9 Pragmatic post - that recognizes a good economy would fix this problem, and blames government policy but short on details.
#10 Pragmatic post - wants to limit food stamps to nutritionally valuable foods.
#11 Cold Hearted Post - that assumes there is at least 5% of fraud. I’m sure there is fraud, but I don’t know how much. Find and cut the fraud first, don’t make arbitrary cuts assuming they will find that much.
#12 Partisan Post - Blames democrats for being democrats.

Here on KLBJ, the local talk show station, a guy called in today and said he saw a Schwans truck with a sign that said: We accept EBT payments.

Well, let’s see. LBJ, the communist who started the war on poverty and paving the road to Hell with good intentions. The only thing that has changed since LBJ is the number, names, and methods of the the thieves.
