Krauthammer: Obamacare defunding Kabuki, Kamikaze and GOP ‘will end up sushi’
The Daily Caller ^ | 9-20-2013 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 09/20/2013 4:47:26 PM PDT by servo1969

On Friday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer mocked the Republican tactic of using the budget process to defund President Barack Obama’s 2010 health care reform law.

Krauthammer called the House’s vote to defund the law “Kabuki” and warned that it would come back to haunt congressional Republicans.

“I think the Boehner speech is what you would expect,” Krauthammer said. “He didn’t want to do it. He had to do it, so he had to defend it, and that’s Kabuki. I think it’s going to go to the Senate and if we end up with a shutdown, it’s going to be Kamikaze, and the Republicans will end up sushi — very thin slices. And everybody knows this. This is sort of a charade. Cruz is going to get a lot of airtime. He’s gotten a huge amount of airtime. There is nowhere to go on this.”

He did note the law was very unpopular and was fraught with flaws, but he said the Republicans could stand in the way of defeating it.

“The irony is as I have been saying for weeks, Obamacare is so unpopular even the unions are up in arms against it,” he said. “The AFL-CIO came within a hair of calling for its repeal. Right now they want all kinds of changes, which they are not going to get. You’ve got Democrats against it. It’s about to kick in and we heard today that they don’t even have the software that will enable the system to calculate what the subsidies are after hearing that they don’t have the software to ascertain what you say is your income and thus, your subsidy. It’s true, so it’s on an honor system. This is going to be a complete disaster. We’re on the threshold of that. As Chuck indicates, the Republicans were on the upswing of the issue and now this? It’s insane and it’s not going to happen.”

What does the great one,Mark Levin, have to say about this?
*************
We can’t clone Cruz (Post 75) but Cruz has mobilized things!

Listened to first 25 min of long audio below and he starts out talking about the House vote at the beginning and then interview with Tom Delay. Delay is the ultimate “targeted” victim by the democrats – battled for 10 years... Delay was on Hannity the other night too.
Delay also mentions what happened when the gov shut down before in the 90’s. The interview with Delay ends around 32 min.
Listen to the short audio for his take on the House issue.

If I have “pests” in the yard I hit them with whatever I’ve got, EVERY TIME I have a chance.

Not every attempt dispatches the pest, but I never know which hit will KILL THE PEST.

This so called smart pundit gets it wrong way too often for conservatives to take his opinions seriously. He may not be as bad as Rove, but he’s getting there.......

“More blather out of the beltway pseudo-conservative surrender caucus.”

Yep! I learned how useless these faux beltway pundits were during the Clintoon elections and the intern mess.

These beltway pundits are more concerned about not upsetting their beltway left wing counterparts. If they dare to speak the truth, they might be left out of the next fabulous cocktail party.

Our choices in life, re whom, we want to spend time with often can over rule any common sense and decency, if we allow it to happen.

At age 50, thanks to a wonderful mentor, who advised me to never waste my limited time and energy with perpetual losers. I made my life better and less frustrating by taking his advice. Our sons, nieces, nephews and younger friends have started following this advice in their fourties.

Looking back, that life change eliminated a lot of contact with liberals, often without realizing how liberal they were.

Then, as we progressed in life into our mid 60’s, we ran into a disturbing trend where friends, we thought were conservatives, apparently came out of the closet and became vicious/vile liberals. They would abuse the friendship and try to pass their left wing bs on to us as the real truth.

If they did this, once was enough for me, and I wanted nothing to do with them after their first and only rabid event with us/me. This at first was tough on my wife. However, she would agree after seeing the same behavior from them and would stop any future contacts. The first Obama election an his second has made many people we know totally intolerable. Now, my wife might beat me to saying, “No more of those A$$holes.”

We lived in the Beltway for 6+ years in the 1960’s. Being in health care and associated with MI intel and wanting to be in the right circles was very addicting. I realized this and was glad to go to the left coast and its problems to get away from that addiction. It took my wife about a decade after leaving the DC area, to realize the danger of the beltway right circles and its social addiction.

Krauthammer is too addicted to be in the right beltway circles too even realize how wrong he is on so many things like Obozocare.

"Obamacare is so unpopular...This is going to be a complete disaster."

Funny how this was the exact same argument that the erudite Mr. Krauthammer, Rove, and the GOP-e, etc. we're using in the 2012 elections. The Obama "economy was such a disaster, with millions of people out of work, etc.", that all we had to do was sit back and play prevent defense, and voters would come flocking to elect President Romney...

These days, the Democrats playbook is almost entirely based upon distraction (and it has been extremely successful...), and that is what they will be counting on going forward. Only assertive, constant challenges by the Tea Party can counter this.

I think it is kabuki in the sense Boner knows it won’t hold through a Senate vote.

The best hope we have for getting rid of Obamacare at this point is the actual implementation of Obamacare itself and the wake-up call low info types are gonna experience when they discover the IRS is the live action keeper of their medical health.

Who knows? Maybe these nitwits who voted for free birth control pills and other insanity will figure it out.

He may be right, maybe letting Obamacare wreak people’s lives is the best way to deal with this disaster.

Suprficially, it's a strong argument.

But the primary impact of the first full year of Obamacare will be millions of people getting checks -- for the mere act of having participated in the program.

Note that one of the "problems" is that they can't collect the individual mandate. Another is that they can't confirm the true income of those who claim they deserve a subsidy.

As a consequence, the mandate won't be enforced. And the subsidies will be flying out of the Treasury like hotcakes. The millions of people who "take advantage" of the program will love it. It's a source of "free money" for the millions skilled at scamming the system.

For the millions of us who work hard to support those subsidies and "the enforcement mechanism", it's something else -- we're the ones who get our lives wrecked.

Understand that once at entitlement has been paid out, it has never, ne3ver been withdrawn!

And that's why we can't count on the train wreck doing our job for us.

I honestly don’t know enough about the malworkings of the Federal Government to know one way or the other. Your prediction however sounds reasonable if I judge the nature of the people most in control of it.

It is indeed a most importantly noted feature of people who have fallen into the despotism that skill in exploiting the system rather than merit of your own ingenuity & productivity becomes the defining power of success. This is of course were society become increasingly stagnate, as they are driven away from innovation in most areas not popular in the minds of the powers that be.
